| There are significant regional differences in economic levels in China. The social structure of urban-rural duality has led to large-scale migration from rural to urban areas, and more and more urban migrant workers choose to leave their homes in a "family-oriented" way and bring their children to live in the urban fringe. For this vulnerable group of children, they will face different difficulties in adapting to the city when they follow their parents to start a new life in an unfamiliar environment. Therefore, this paper attempts to intervene in the urban adjustment process of migrant children with a social work professional approach to provide necessary support and assistance. This paper is based on the "Maohe Xushui" public welfare trusteeship service project in Y community of Guiyang City, and the migrant children aged 7-12 who participate in the childcare service are the research objects.Firstly, the interview method was used to analyze the group characteristics of migrant children in community Y,and the common problems existing in the urban adaptation process of migrant children were preliminarily understood, and then the urban adaptation needs of migrant children were evaluated. After investigation,it is found that migrant children have interpersonal "inner circle" in the process of adapting to the city, lack of urban life skills and difficulty in adapting to the new environment, insufficient school integration leads to poor learning status, lack of self-identity and difficulty in obtaining external support, lack of family education leads to insufficient adaptability, and low sense of belonging to the community and the city.Secondly, under the guidance of "social learning theory" and "ecosystem theory",this paper adopts a combination of participatory observation method and interview method to collect data, analyzes the urban maladjustment performance of migrant children in community Y,and uses social work professional methods and skills on the basis of needs assessment, mainly from the themes of improving interpersonal communication, enhancing family support, improving academic performance, and enhancing the sense of belonging in urban communities. Finally, through the comparison before and after group activities, fill in the group activity process table and evaluation scale, evaluate the effectiveness of group activities and reflect on the shortcomings of the entire project operation and activity process, which provides relevant experience for the future development of group activities. The results of this study find that, firstly, the application of group work practice can not only help migrant children build self-confidence,promote interpersonal communication, stimulate learning initiative to solve academic problems, but also bring parents closer and obtain internal support from families, which to a certain extent promotes the positive growth of migrant children.Secondly, the group work creates opportunities for migrant children to communicate with community residents, strengthens the connection between migrant families and communities, strengthens the external support network of migrant children, increases their familiarity with the city and community, enhances their sense of belonging to the city, and promotes them to better adapt to urban life. Finally, the project not only promotes the development of social work services through "government purchase",but also provides a platform for migrant children to receive professional social work services. |
