In the context of active aging, how to enable the elderly to truly enjoy their old age has become a hot topic in society. The number of left behind elderly people in rural areas is constantly increasing, but their attention to the spiritual life of this group is not high. The elderly live alone for a long time, lacking children or companionship, and their material needs are basically met,but their spiritual needs are ignored.Faced with the changes in physiological, psychological, and social life in old age,if one cannot have a correct understanding of oneself, old age,and family life,it is easy to form irrational cognition that is old and useless, resulting in depression, feelings of self uselessness, and a sense of meaninglessness in life.If depression is not alleviated in a timely manner,it can lead to worsening mental health problems in the elderly and have a negative impact on their daily lives. This study takes the elderly left behind in Y village as the research object.Through interviews, observation, and questionnaire surveys,30 elderly left behind in Y village were surveyed on the spot.Through data analysis, the current manifestations and causes of depression among rural elderly left behind were identified.Select a typical case subject to conduct practical intervention research. On the basis of clarifying the depressive emotional expression and needs of the elderly patient L,the intervention is divided into two stages: cognitive adjustment and support construction.Using methods such as interviews and life reviews to guide the case owner,L elderly,to correctly understand the elderly and elderly diseases, adjust the unreasonable cognition that it is meaningless to see a doctor in old age,and alleviate low emotions;By participating in group activities and community building, enhance self-confidence,find the meaning of life, and proactively leave home;Explore the support of family and community systems, increase emotional support, and maintain a positive and optimistic mental state.By evaluating the effective relief of depression in the elderly patient L,the intervention service for the case was terminated.Combining theoretical research and practical intervention,it is believed that case work can effectively alleviate the depression of rural left behind elderly people. In the process of intervention, adjusting unreasonable cognition is the key,and the role of emotional support cannot be ignored.Improving emotional support can alleviate the depression of rural left behind elderly people. In this study,by providing social and entertainment opportunities, while tapping into the support of family and community systems,we effectively meet the needs of service recipients for spiritual companionship, enabling them to receive more emotional support on the basis of adjusting their cognitive structure. Therefore, increasing necessary emotional support can better help alleviate the depression of rural left behind elderly people.
