| According to the "Chemistry Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 version)",chemistry education should focus on developing the core literacy of Chinese students, cultivating their ability to adapt to future development and innovative consciousness, including teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills. In order to meet the psychological needs of students and teaching requirements, game elements are introduced in junior high school chemistry teaching to enhance students’ interest in learning and develop their core literacy.Traditional teaching methods cannot meet the diversified teaching requirements of the new curriculum standards,so it is necessary to change teaching methods.Gamification teaching can stimulate students’ intrinsic motivation. Therefore, this study applies gamification teaching in chemistry education to develop students’ core literacy. This research applies a literature review approach to summarize domestic and international studies on two aspects:core literacy and gamification teaching.Relevant core concepts are defined, including the theory of Education as Life, immersion theory, constructivist learning theory, and game-based learning theory.Through a questionnaire survey of students’ level of interest in chemistry, attitudes towards gamification teaching, preferences for teaching methods, and cultivation of core literacy. The study also conducts teacher interviews to understand their understanding of core literacy, use of teaching methods, and views on whether gamification teaching can be based on core literacy.Based on this,an analysis is carried out on the feasibility of gamification teaching and the necessity of the penetration of core literacy and gamification teaching, and principles for teaching practice are determined.Three teaching cases are implemented based on this, namely:the concept topic "Elements" with points competition games as the mainline, the experimental topic "Research and Preparation of Carbon Dioxide" with breakthrough games as the mainline, and the real-life topic "Burn and Extinguish" with role-playing games as the mainline. These cases are conducted in junior high school chemistry classroom, integrating the required core literacy of chemistry education into the gamification teaching process according to the new curriculum standards. Two comparable classes in a middle school in Yinchuan,Ningxia were selected as the research object and divided into experimental and control groups. After the implementation of the gamification teaching, the effectiveness of the teaching is evaluated through practical data such as questionnaire surveys,paper-and-pencil tests, and teaching activity observation scales, and a summary of the practical results is made accordingly. The research results show that after implementing gamification teaching, the students in the experimental group had a relaxed and pleasant classroom atmosphere,a significant increase in learning motivation, significant enhancements in learning achievements and efficiency,as well as improvements in students’ interest in learning and core literacy abilities. This indicates that gamification teaching is feasible, can help cultivate students’ core literacy, and can achieve a transformation of classroom atmosphere. It has certain value in the application of junior high school chemistry teaching and is worth further exploration and research. |
