Computational thinking is the core literacy of innovative talents in the 21st century, and it is also one of the core literacies in the curriculum of IT subjects in compulsory education, reflecting the important nurturing value of IT subjects. In recent years, teaching games have gradually become a tool for exploring new teaching modes, and gamified teaching has been practiced and applied in various disciplines one after another. However, computational thinking is a new thing, and the research on the cultivation of computational thinking is at the exploration stage, with only small-scale empirical research and application, and no systematic, standardized and scientific cultivation plan and strategy has been formed. Therefore, combining the existing research results with the practical problems of teaching and learning, and the theoretical guidance of the new curriculum,it is necessary to investigate the game activities and game design for students to participate together to achieve computational thinking skills training. This study includes the following three parts:Firstly, the literature on computational thinking and gamification teaching is sorted and analyzed using literature research method to clarify the connotation and cultivation strategy of computational thinking and the current situation of gamification teaching.Through literature review and analysis,we found that computational thinking is a way of thinking that uses the thinking methods in the field of computer science to solve problems, and the cultivation of computational thinking is mainly carried out in curriculum education through computational tools such as robotics, game design, and programming languages. Therefore, the teaching of programming based on game activities is conducive to enhancing students’ computational thinking literacy.Secondly, with the support of relevant theoretical foundation, based on a large amount of literature combing and analysis,a game activity design scheme for upper elementary school IT classroom based on computational thinking cultivation is constructed and action research is conducted based on the current teaching situation. The program includes six aspects:teaching analysis, teaching goal design, teaching content design, teaching strategy design, and game activity evaluation design. In order to test the practical effect of the program,X elementary school was selected in Yinchuan,Ningxia, for two rounds of teaching practice, and the program was applied to the actual teaching situation through the action research method, and its practical effect was analyzed. Finally, the effect of teaching practice was analyzed through a comprehensive evaluation approach. Before and after the teaching practice, data were collected and analyzed using questionnaires, interviews, and scales on the teaching practice process, and it was concluded that the integration of game activities in IT classes can improve students’ learning initiative, and the game design based on programming language can effectively enhance students’ computational thinking ability. To sum up,integrating teaching game activities in IT classroom, closely combining game activity themes and teaching objectives, and relying on programming design to realize game functions can not only inspire students’ thinking and improve their learning motivation, but also exercise students’ thinking literacy such as algorithmic thinking, evaluation iteration, and error correction;and problem solution design is a process description of solving a problem, which can well The problem solution design is a process description of solving a problem, which can exercise students’ evaluation thinking and algorithmic thinking, thus training students’ computational thinking skills.
