| Parenting style is the attitude and behavior reflected when parents raise children,and to a large extent will be affected by the family environment,parents personality,parenting concepts,and childrenâs own temperament characteristics.Parenting style has an important impact on childrenâs physical health,mental health and social adaptation.Through combing through the existing studies,it is found that the research on parenting styles has achieved fruitful results,but most of them focus on the adolescent stage,and the research on the parenting styles of the younger age groups such as the child transition from kindergarten to primary school is relatively weak,and the measurement tools are also relatively lacking.Therefore,this study intends to investigate and study the parenting style of the child transition from kindergarten to primary school to solve the problems.Through convenient sampling,this study obtained771 valid survey data from Parents of kindergarten and primary school grade 1 in C city and H city.Parents Active Rearing Young Children(PARYC)and the Parenting Scale(PS)as well as basic demographic information.This study mainly consists of three parts:(1)Investigate and study the parenting styles of child transition from kindergarten to primary school,revise the local parenting styles measurement tool,and apply it to parents of child transition from kindergarten to primary school,so as to solve the problem of lack of research tools at present.(2)Divide the percent-level norms of the familyâs home place and the area where children go to school,find out the critical value,and improve the score interpretation after tool evaluation.(3)Make use of demographic information to analyze the current situation,so as to provide educational suggestions for parents to adjust or improve their parenting styles and promote childrenâs scientific transition.The main findings of this study are:(1)The reliability and validity of the Revised Parents(PARYC-R)and The Revised Parenting Scale(PS-R)were good,and all indexes met the psychometrical standards,which can be used to study the parenting style of young children in China.PARYC-R,a total of 20 items,the three factor model fitting index wereĎ~2=413.41,df=186,CFI=0.86,TLI=0.85,SRMR=0.07,RMSEA=0.07,dimensions between 1 and dimension 2,3 dimensions are 0.45 and 0.49 respectively,The correlation between dimension 2 and dimension 3 is 0.50.PS-R a total of 23 items,among them,the three factor model fitting index wereĎ~2=418.48,df=227,CFI=0.88,TLI=0.86,SRMR=0.07,RMSEA=0.06,dimension 1 and dimension 2,3 dimensions between 0.52 and 0.18 respectively,The correlation between dimension 2 and dimension 3 is 0.16.Four factor model fitting index wereĎ~2=348.80,df=224,CFI=0.92,TLI=0.91,SRMR=0.06,RMSEA=0.05,The correlation between dimension 1 and dimension 2,3,4,dimension 2 and dimension 3 and 4 and between dimension 3 and dimension 4 is 0.40,0.47,0.18,0.51,0.12 and 0.15,respectively.TheÎącoefficients of PARYC-R as a whole and each dimension in samples 1 and 2 are between 0.70 and 0.94,and theÎącoefficients of PS-R as a whole and each dimension in samples 1 and 2 are between 0.75 and 0.95.(2)In child transition from kindergarten to primary school,the scores of Parents Active Parenting Scale and Parenting Scale show that parents mostly adopt positive parenting styles.(3)The role of parents,child main caregiver,the number of children in the family,the gender of the child,the home place of the family,the area where the child goes to school and the level of education of the parents are the relevant factors affecting the parenting style of the young children. |
