It has been 12 years since campus football was launched in 2009.The Ministry of Education selected the first batch of national youth football characteristic schools in 2015,including 24 campus football characteristic schools in Xiangxi Prefecture,which promoted the development of campus football in Xiangxi Prefecture.As of 2022,there will be a total of 76 primary and secondary schools featuring campus football in Xiangxi Prefecture.With the introduction of campus football-related policies,more requirements are put forward for campus football teachers,and thus footballs teachers played more roles in this field.While the rise of the theory and application of competency characteristics has made a lot of research gains in the field of education in China,the general competency model lacks pertinence and operability for campus football teachers.Therefore,it is of great significance to focus on policy requirements,and explore the competence characteristics of campus football teachers.This research mainly adopts the documentary study and behavioral event interview.The qualitative analysis software NVivo12 Plus to is used for open coding,spindle coding,and selective coding.While qualitative research methods is applied in establishing the model of the competency characteristics of football teachers on campus in Xiangxi Prefecture.This research mainly includes the following six parts: The first part is the introduction,which mainly expounds the basis of the topic selection,research significance and research purpose.The second part is a literature review,which introduces the concept and theory of competency,the competency of teachers at home and abroad,the policy texts of campus football,the research status of campus football teachers in Xiangxi,qualitative research methods,problem proposals,and research innovations.The third part is the research objects and research methods.The fourth part is the coding of the competency characteristics of the campus football teachers based on the policy text.The behavioral event interview method is conducted on the campus football teachers in Xiangxi Prefecture,and the STAR rule is used to describe them.The NVivo12 Plus software is used for coding,so as to construct the competency characteristic model of the campus football teachers in Xiangxi Prefecture.The fifth part is about the competency characteristics of campus football teachers in Xiangxi Prefecture,the competency characteristics of campus football teachers based on policy texts,the comparison with other teachers’ competency models,the overall and Comparative discussion with the policy text requirements.The sixth part is the conclusion and imitations of this study,and the prospects for future research.Research resultsThere are 29 competency features in the open coding of policy texts,9 competency features in the main axis coding,and 5 dimensions in the selective coding.Through the behavioral event interviews with the football teachers in Xiangxi Prefecture,the data obtained are openly coded with 43 competency characteristics,11 competency characteristics with main axis coding,and 5 dimensions with selective coding.Analysis conclusionThrough qualitative research,the first-line campus football teachers in Xiangxi prefecture were interviewed on behavioral events,and the obtained data were openly coded to obtain 43 competency characteristics,and 11 competency characteristics were obtained from main axis coding,and 5 dimensions were constructed after selective coding,they are teaching and scientific research ability,teaching ability,management ability,personality and quality and professional character.Compared with other teachers’ competency characteristics,the competency characteristics of football teachers in Xiangxi prefecture have both commonalities and characteristics.The characteristics are reflected in the training of campus football reserve talents,including talent echelon construction and talent transfer;campus football cultural building,including campus football material culture and campus football spiritual culture;ideals and beliefs,including the firm belief in the development of campus football;And those teacher are hard-working and humble.Comparing the competency characteristics of football teachers on campus in Xiangxi and the requirements of the policy text for teachers,it is found that there are both similarities and differences.The competency characteristics of football teachers on campus in Xiangxi Prefecture meet the policy requirements,and they also have done more beyond policy requirements,which is reflected in the cohesion of the training team,the formulation and application of game tactics,competition command and decision-making ability,hobbies,achievement motivation,self-discipline,perseverance,decisiveness,diligence,hard work,modesty,patience,love,indifference to fame and fortune,dedication to work,selfless dedication,and self-realization of personal value.It shows that the campus football teachers in Xiangxi Prefecture have a deeper understanding of the policy and a more thorough implementation,and they not only focus on quantity,but also on a better quality.Innovations in this studyIn terms of research objects,there are more researches on the “competence characteristics of teachers” based on the existing literature,less research on the“competence characteristics of campus football teachers”,and even less research on the“competence characteristics of campus football teachers” in economically underdeveloped areas.Xiangxi prefecture is an underdeveloped area of ethnic minorities.This study selects campus football teachers in Xiangxi prefecture as the research object,and builds a “competency model for campus football teachers in Xiangxi prefecture”,so as to produce feedback on how policies can be better implemented in less developed regions.From the perspective of research methods,through reviewing the literature,it is found that the relevant research on competency characteristics is more focused on quantitative research,and qualitative research methods are not used much.The slow economic development in Xiangxi Prefecture leads to the lagging growth of campus football,and the lack of professional football teachers are not conducive to the development of quantitative research.Therefore,in light of the actual situation in Xiangxi Prefecture,the author takes a qualitative research perspective and behavioral event interviews to collect data.The data provide a method basis for the construction of the competency characteristic model of football teachers on campus in Xiangxi Prefecture,reflecting the applicability of the research method. |
