| Chinese teaching materials play a decisive role in improving students’ personality development,cultivating students’ values,and promoting students’ physical and mental development.As an important part of Chinese teaching materials,character image can strengthen students’ understanding of male and female characters,and invisibly affect students’ gender awareness,value orientation and gender role norms,thereby further promoting the development of students’ gender awareness,which is of great significance for the shaping of students’ gender equality awareness and the development of sound personality.However,there are few studies on the construction of female images in primary school Chinese textbooks,so this study starts from the ministry-compiled primary school Chinese textbooks to study the female images constructed in textbooks and explore their educational value.This study consists of the following four parts:The introduction part is divided into five aspects: problem formulation,literature review,definition of core concepts,theoretical basis and analysis framework,and research plan.This study uses gender theory as the theoretical basis,and studies the image of women in teaching materials from four dimensions: social system,culture,role and social interaction.First of all,the unified edition of primary school Chinese volume 1 to volume 12 textbooks as the research object,combined with the previous research ideas,using the text analysis method to explore the female image constructed in the textbooks.On a macro level,this study obtained 149 women from the unified primary school Chinese textbooks in each textbook,and found that each textbook contained no more than 11 female articles,and the number of women did not increase with the increase of grade.Age groups had the largest number of adult women,followed by minors and the elderly.The countries of female figures is concentrated in China,while most foreign women are from developed countries in Europe and the United States.On the micro level,the women in the title of the text and the female characters are mostly minor and adults;the characters are mainly modern and contemporary;the relatives of the characters account for the largest proportion.In the text,the age of female characters is mainly adult;the time is mainly contemporary;mainly mother.In the single illustration,the characters are mainly minors and adults,and the characters are mainly boys and girls.Secondly,based on the social gender theory,combined with the theoretical analysis framework of this study,the female image in the unified version of primary school Chinese textbooks is analyzed.The results show that: first,the social system affects the image building of women.According with the era of female characters in the textbook,the formal system and the informal system restrict the development of female gender consciousness;second,culture promotes the generation of female image.Specifically,the symbols in the textbook carry women’s unique emotions,and the values highlight women’s quality.Third,roles reflect women’s social status.Through the statistics of female roles in the textbook,it is found that women play a central role in the family and play an important participant in the social role;fourth,social interaction shows the characteristics of female image.And the interactive mode of female image in the textbook is mainly cooperation,and the conflict is mostly between men and women.Finally,based on the above analysis,the educational value of female image in the unified version of primary school Chinese textbooks is summarized.The educational value of female image in the text include changing ideas,emphasizing gender identity education,infiltrating the mind and feeling the beautiful emotion;promoting the comprehensive development of personality;improving the accomplishment and inheriting the excellent traditional culture.The educational value of female images in the illustration is intuitive to the cognitive characteristics of students;rich in content and close to real life,and highlights Chinese elements. |
