Reward is one of the symbols of human social group humanistic management system.Reward in education is not only beneficial to school management,but also plays a direct role in students’ physical and mental development.There is a wealth of research on rewards,but we rarely pay attention to and reflect on the real value and significance of rewards,but only seek to find out how to make the maximum effect of reward and how to use them to achieve the desired goals of education and teaching.In response to the realities of education,teachers and students perceive rewards as instrumental and ignore the due value and significance of rewards for students’ development.Based on Honneth’s recognition theory,the study rearranges and demonstrates the significance of rewards in school education to human development.As an important form of college students’ reward system,it is an important system of scientific and comprehensive training and guiding college students to become high-quality talents in higher education.In the realistic investigation of the reward,taking the reward system of college students as the research carrier,through the analysis of the school reward system to understand the development and operation of the reward,conducted in-depth interviews with college students,from their motivation and reward experience to understand the real feelings of college students for the reward,summed up the motivation of college students to seek emotional recognition,recognition of rights and recognition of value.There are significant differences in the perceptions of rewards,the behavioral performance of those who participated in the rewards,and the feedback after the selection of the rewards,especially for those who did not receive the rewards and leading to problems such as students developing a sense of hierarchy,students’ polarized attitudes towards rewards,and rewards being formal and failing to examine the true situation of students.Using Honneth’s recognition theory to analyse the problems with rewards,it was found that rewards in schools are not sufficiently emotionally motivated by recognition at the level of care,not sufficiently regulated by the system at the level of respect,and not sufficiently covered by social importance at the level of self-respect.The essence of rewards is recognition,and Honneth’s recognition theory gives rewards a deep educational significance.Therefore,educators should re-examine the value of rewards.In the rewards for college students,schools should establish the concept of people-oriented education,give play to students’ subjectivity in the formulation and implementation of the reward system,and finally build a diversified evaluation system.Only in this way can rewards regain the significance of inspiring and educating people,demonstrating and leading.
