| The introduction of core literacy in mathematics is one of the core revisions to the current round of curriculum standards, which articulates the goals of personal development and at the same time provides guidance and direction for the future development of the senior secondary mathematics curriculum. This not only means a major upgrade of the objectives of mathematics education, and a realistic demand to reconstruct the curriculum and teaching system with core literacy, but also means that unit design has become an important issue in the context of literacy.Scholars in China have actively carried out research on the ’unit teaching’ model.Research has shown that the ’unit teaching’ model is more capable of developing students’ overall literacy from a holistic perspective than the traditional ’classroom teaching’,which is also in line with the concept of curriculum integration. On this basis, this thesis uses three-dimensional geometry as a research vehicle to study the design of mathematics units at the senior secondary level.Firstly, the core concepts involved in this study are clearly defined, and the existing research findings on core mathematical literacy, the content of the three-dimensional geometry curriculum and the design of the units are reviewed and summarized, thus providing a solid and comprehensive theoretical support for the work to be carried out.Secondly,a study of the current situation of students’ learning of three-dimensional geometry in senior secondary schools was conducted, using test papers to collect relevant data. The test data showed that students’ key skills and core literacies in threedimensional geometry have yet to be improved.Specifically, most students performed relatively well in logical reasoning and intuitive imagination. However,a large number of students showed deficiencies in mathematical abstraction and mathematical modelling skills that are of concern, and there was a general embarrassment of poor levels of mathematical computation skills,a situation that needs to be improved. In addition,a questionnaire survey was used to provide a comprehensive analysis and discussion of the current status of unit teaching among senior secondary mathematics teachers in terms of both awareness and practice. The findings revealed that some teachers lacked the appropriate awareness and understanding of unit teaching design, resulting in their failure to use unit teaching design in their daily teaching. This shows that teachers’ perceptions of the importance and value of unit teaching are still somewhat inadequate. In addition, many educators make a series of deep-rooted errors in the design of units. In conclusion, this thesis takes the core literacy of mathematics as the anchor point, constructs a pathway for unit design in high school mathematics based on the value perspective and logic of unit design, and uses the theme of three-dimensional geometry as the carrier for unit design and implementation in the classroom to test the effectiveness of this unit. |
