Abstract/Summary:
It embodies the basic supporting role of education in the realization of socialist modernization.As an important component,basic education plays an important role in the modernization.In 2017,the Guiding Opinions of the General Office of the Ministry of Education on Doing a good Job in After-school Services for Primary and Secondary School Students and the Opinions on Further Reducing the Homework Burden and Off-campus Training Burden of Students in Compulsory Education were issued to provide ideas for "reducing the burden" on primary and secondary school students and strive to improve national happiness and promote equal opportunities in education.As one of the earliest countries to implement after-school education,the United States has made considerable achievements in policy introduction and specific implementation,which has played a positive role in promoting the education of American k-12 students,which is worth our thinking and reference.Based on a large number of domestic and foreign data,this study adopts literature analysis,historical analysis and comparative research methods to study the implementation of k-12 Afterschool programs in the United States,and sorts out the background and history of the emergence of Afterschool programs in the United States.This paper introduces the implementation status of the k-12 Afterschool program in the United States from the perspectives of implementation objectives,policy introduction,fund provision,implementation subjects and implementation contents,then analyzes its implementation characteristics and effects,summarizes the international experience of the good development of the k-12 Afterschool program in the United States,and combines the current implementation status and difficulties of afterschool services in Chinese primary and secondary schools,and puts forward several suggestions: It is necessary to clarify the implementation objectives of afterschool services,optimize the content and form of afterschool services,formulate long-term plans,and make them more concrete according to students’ interests and school characteristics.Improve the relevant policy guarantee,increase the funding input when carrying out a series of activities,and fully improve the quality of afterschool service implementation;Establish the educational joint efforts of school,community and family,form an effective communication mechanism,and communicate well with students’ learning and growth in different environments,so as to monitor students’ learning changes and adjust the implementation strategy of afterschool services;A qualified team of teachers is related to the learning quality of students.Only by providing teachers with due training and exercise can students’ education be more appropriate.By setting a standard evaluation mechanism,afterschool services are urged to develop in a better direction.Providing high quality afterschool services for Chinese primary and secondary school students is beneficial for the long-term and healthy development of students and the improvement of the quality of basic education in China.
