Abstract/Summary:
After-school education refers to in addition to school education,educational activities carried out by special educational institutions outside the school for children.In America,afterschool programs are important carriers for the impementation of after-school education.A large number of assessment results showed that the afterschool programs plays a positive role in guaranteeing children’s safety and health,promoting their academic achievement and social development,and caring for children when their parents work.After more than a century of developent,American afterschool program has achieved great success and become a model for other countries.The curriculum is based on the program.The function is to promote educational equity and development of the 21st century skills.In the external support,the federal government and state governments give strong support through legal policies and funds,communities,families and schools are widely involved,the research group actively explores quality standards,evaluation system and information platform.These are the advantages and characteristics of afterschool programs in America.The reasearch on the afterschool programs in America can provide a useful reference for the development of after-school education in China.This research mainly adopts literature research method,case analysis method and comparative analysis method.It is divided into the introduction and six chapters.The introduction mainly introduces the origin and research significance of the study,defines the related concepts of afterschool program,combs the domestic and foreign literature,analzes the research status of after-school education,and finally,clarifies the research ideas and methods of this paper.The first chapter combs the historical development of afterschool programs in America,and analyzes the reasons on dynamic changes of educational functions of afterschool program in different periods.The second chapter combs the theories and policies of afterschool programs,and analyzes how the government has played a guiding role in the legal policy level in the development of afterschool program.The third chapter studies the implementation of the afterschool programs.This is the focus of this article,from the service object,teachers and curriculum respects,and selects three program cases to discuss the implementation experience of the afterschool programs.The fourth chapter analyzes the guarantee system of the afterschool programs from the aspects of quality standard and evaluation system,research and information service platform,funds.The fifth,sixth chapter is the conclusion and reflection parts of this paper.It summarizes the implementation effect and characteristics of afterschool programs in America,and the experience for China.
