With the continuous development of the country, the new era has put forward many new requirements for junior high school students.Middle school students need to have a broader knowledge, comprehensive quality, practical ability, innovative thinking and teamwork ability, etc.Middle school is not only the continuation and development of elementary school, but also the cornerstone of high school mathematics education, which has an important connecting role. Therefore, cultivating students’ inquiry ability, problem solving ability, teamwork ability and interest in learning are important teaching objectives in junior high school teaching.the PBL(problem-based learning)model aims to cultivate students’ independent thinking and sense of communication and cooperation, and to improve students’ comprehensive quality through problems, which is in line with the requirements of the new curriculum reform and is a popular issue currently explored in the education sector. In addition, from the current secondary school mathematics textbooks, quadratic functions occupy an extremely important position, many of the ideas in the quadratic functions can be well applied to people’s practical life,so the study of quadratic functions teaching is of great significance. The text is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is the introduction, which mainly describes the background of the study, the purpose and significance of the study, the current situation of domestic and foreign research, the research content, methods and ideas. The second chapter mainly elaborates the overview of related concepts and theoretical foundation. The third chapter mainly describes the design, implementation, and analysis of the student questionnaire and the research on the teacher interview.Chapter 4 mainly elaborates the objective design, problem design, evaluation design, teaching step design of PBL in junior high school mathematics teaching, and the design of teaching quadratic function based on PBL model.Chapter 5 mainly elaborates the classroom observation analysis and individual student interview analysis after the implementation of quadratic function teaching based on PBL model.Chapter 6 is the summary and outlook of the study.Through the analysis of the study, the following conclusions are drawn:(1)the PBL teaching method can promote classroom teaching and improve learning interest, initiative and cooperation;(2)the problem design of the introduction session needs to be more specific and targeted;(3)individual student differences should be considered in the group discussion session;(4)the evaluation time and method should be reasonably arranged.
