| Research Objective:This study aims to understand the current situation of physical activity,interpersonal relationship,psychological resilience and psychological health of high school students,to explore the relationship between physical activity and interpersonal relationship,psychological resilience and psychological health of high school students and the inner psychological mechanism,to provide practical theoretical suggestions and practical references for promoting interpersonal relationship,psychological resilience and psychological health of high school students,and to prompt schools,parents and teachers to pay attention to the mental health level of high school students and promote the positive development of their mental health.Methodology:High school students from four locations,one urban and one rural high school each,in northern Jiangsu,central Jiangsu,southern Jiangsu and Nanjing,for a total of eight high school schools,were selected as the respondents.A paper-and-pencil test was administered offline,and the subjects were instructed to fill in the scale according to their real situation using a uniform instructional language and collected on site.A total of 2,400 questionnaires were distributed,and to ensure that the data collected were rigorous and valid,the questionnaires collected were screened and collated,excluding those completed too fast,randomly,regularly or incompletely.2,106 valid questionnaires were collected,with a valid return rate of 87.75%,of which 1,096 were from male students and 1,010 from female students.The statistical analysis was carried out using the social statistical analysis software package SPSS 26.0,Process macro program and Mplus 8.3.Results:(1)Physical activity levels of high school students differed significantly in gender(t=10.232,P<0.001,Cohen’s d=0.449),region(F(3,2102)=10.880,P<0.001,η2=0.015)and no t in grade level or family type(P>0.05).Interpersonal relationships differed significantly on region(F(3,2102)=5.158,P<0.001,η2=0.007),family type(F(2,2103)=7.530,P<0.001,η2=0.007),and not on gender,grade level(P>0.05).Psychological resilience was significantly diff erent on region(F(3,2102)=6.095,P<0.001,η2=0.009),and family type(F(2,2103)=3.973,P<0.05,η2=0.004).Significant differences in mental health were found on gender(t=5.411,P<0.001,Cohen’s d=0.237),region(F(3.2102)=7.286,P<0.001,η2=0.010),and family type(F(2,2103)=8.341,P<0.001,η2=0.008),and no significant differences were found on grade level.(2)There were significant positive correlations between physical activity mental health(r=0.14)and psychological resilience(r=0.10)and significant negative correlat ions with interpersonal relationships(r=-0.10);significant negative correlations between inte rpersonal relationships and psychological resilience(r=-0.49)and psychological health(r=-0.56);and significant positive correlations between psychological resilience and psychological health(r=0.65)among high school students.(3)Physical activity significantly and positivel y predicted mental health among high school students(β=0.122,P<0.001).Interpersonal rela tionships partially mediated between physical activity and mental health(95%CI:0.015-0.045),psychological resilience partially mediated between physical activity and mental health(95%CI:0.011-0.051),and interpersonal relationships and psychological resilience partially m ediated between physical activity and mental health chain mediated between physical activit y and mental health(95%CI:0.012-0.035).Conclusions:(1)Physical activity positively predicted the mental health of high school students.(2)Physical activity not only directly predicted the mental health of high school students,but also indirectly influenced the mental health of high school students through the separate mediating roles of interpersonal relationships and psychological resilience.(3)Interpersonal relationships and psychological resilience played a chain mediating role between physical activity and psychological well-being of high school students. |
