Under the background of economic globalization, the trade between countries is deepening, and China’s processing trade is experiencing a leap-forward development. Therefore,China’s export scale has greatly increased. However, there are still some shortcomings in China’s foreign trade development that can’t be ignored. The export benefit is still not high, and the added value is relatively low.The most important reasons are the lack of innovation ability, the lack of high-quality talents and the inability to master the key technologies of production.Higher education is an important channel to cultivate innovative talents. The quality of higher education and human capital reflect our country’s ability to participate in international competition by using its own production factors. Therefore, this paper studies the influence of the development of higher education quality on China’s export domestic added value,so as to better prescribe the right medicine according to the actual situation, put forward realistic, scientific and efficient policy suggestions, and realize the high-quality development of China’s trade.Firstly, using the data of China’s higher education quality and China’s customs trade database, this paper makes an empirical analysis through the fixed effect model, studies the impact of higher education quality on enterprises’ export domestic added value, and tests the robustness and endogeneity of the empirical results.Secondly, the sample data is subdivided according to ownership and region,to explore the influence of the quality of higher education on the domestic added value of different sub-sample enterprises. Finally, from the two aspects of enterprise productivity and technological innovation, this paper examines the mechanism of the influence of higher education quality on the domestic added value of enterprises’exports. The empirical results show that the improvement of the quality of higher education has a significant positive impact on the domestic added value of Chinese enterprises’ exports, and this conclusion is very robust. The heterogeneity analysis shows that there are ownership and regional differences in the promotion of higher education quality to enterprises’ export domestic added value, which has a significant impact on foreign-funded enterprises, but not on local enterprises, and on enterprises in eastern China, but not on enterprises in central and western China. The mechanism test shows that the quality of higher education will increase the added value of enterprises’ exports to China through two channels:increasing the productivity of enterprises and improving technological innovation. Finally, according to the previous analysis, theoretical discussion and empirical test, this paper puts forward the following suggestions:First, change the current situation of insufficient quality education resources, and improve the quality of higher education by increasing education investment, reforming the education system and encouraging social capital participation.Secondly,in order to match the structure of higher education in China,we should promote the upgrading and transformation of the industrial structure of manufacturing industry.Thirdly, due to the regional differences in China,we should rationally optimize the allocation of educational resources in China.Fourth, increase the capital-labor input ratio and strive to improve the productivity of enterprises.Fifth, increase R&D investment and other related support to strengthen China’s independent innovation capability.
