| In recent years, under the guidance of a series of policy documents and the joint efforts of various departments, the incidence of explicit school bullying and school violence has decreased year by year.Despite this, vicious incidents of school bullying still occur frequently, endangering the physical and mental health of adolescents. In such incidents, participants play different roles that have different degrees of influence on the development of the incident, and their roles change as the incident develops.Previous studies have mostly focused on a single bullying role, and there is a lack of research on the transformation of bullying roles, which provides a breakthrough point for this study.Based on the ecosystem theory, this study takes the transformation mechanism of bullying roles as the research theme, selects S who have experienced multiple bullying role transformations as the main research subject, collects, analyzes and re-tells the story of the transformation of roles in school bullying with the help of in-depth interviews and narrative research, analyzes the components and internal mechanism of the transformation story, scrutinizes the problems in the current transformation mechanism and tries to make relevant suggestions. The study found that S’s role transformation in school bullying was highly congruent with her social experiences such as changing schools, moving to a new school and being placed in a different class.Certainly, the role change was the result of a combination of factors, including S’s own development as the core element;family cultural capital, peer group norms and teachers’ views on education as constituent elements of the microsystem;and elements of the mesosystem, and elements of the exosystem, macrosystem and chronosystem that surround the microsystem as the participating elements. The interaction of the participating elements results in three main mechanisms of bullying role transformation: the individual’s entry into a new peer group is the preparation mechanism, the occurrence mechanism is the process by which the individual adapts to the new group norms, and the psychological traits developed during the individual’s social experience act as the reinforcement mechanism to regulate the whole process of role transformation.By analyzing the process of the role transformation of S and the elements involved, this study identifies that the current mechanisms of role transformation are rooted in the‘egotism’ of students;the ‘banality of evil’ of educators and parents;the ‘valuing one and ignoring the others’ in the youth group and significant others,as well as the social environment. In view of this, this study suggests that it is necessary to implement values education in a comprehensive manner and help students to establish‘self-identity’;schools should strengthen mental health education and provide timely crisis intervention, implement moral, intellectual, athletic, aesthetic and labor education to guide peer groups correctly, work with parents to improve the effectiveness of home-school communication;parents should actively improve their educational skills and accumulate cultural capital;and public governance should uphold the principles of early prevention, adequate intervention and effective management to create a safe atmosphere. |
