The emergence of social media has greatly facilitated people’s lives. On this basis,micro-blogging,as an important Internet product, affects every social media user.Social media users can freely express their views on the "opinion square" of micro-blogging and be seen by others. In addition,micro-blogging has the characteristics that the higher the number of likes, the higher the comments will be;topics can gather a cluster of people with the same opinions and trending topic will be preferentially displayed which make it easier for users to be emotionally involved.Under such data and platform characteristics, the phenomenon of group polarization and the spread speed of public opinion in micro-blogging are more serious and obvious.Based on the "social conflict theory",this paper studies and analyzes the phenomenon of group polarization in micro-blogging,adopts the "process-event analysis method" and "case study method",analyzes the generation mechanism and causes of group polarization in micro-blogging,summarizes the characteristics of group polarization in micro-blogging,and systematically considers the generation mechanism and influence of conflict.Firstly, this paper figuratively summarizes the typical group polarization events from the birth of micro-blogging in 2009 to 2022.It is found that the group polarization events in micro-blogging are mainly concentrated in three levels:bad social nature, obvious opposition and conflict, involvement of public interests,self-interests and pan entertainment.Secondly, the generation of group polarization in micro-blogging is divided into three stages:the generation of information sources, the rapid spread of public opinion and the formation of polarization phenomenon. Finally, the study found that the generation of micro-blogging group polarization is caused by multiple factors, including the opposition of social conflicts, the hierarchical characteristics of micro-blogging,and the needs of Internet users to seek personal identity and collective identity jointly promote the generation of the group polarization of micro-blogging.Moreover,the negative impact of the phenomenon of group polarization can lead to rumors,"cyber violence," "moral judgment," "cyber manhunts" and other negative comments. It also leads to the public falling into the "Tacitus trap",resulting in the decline of the government’s credibility. Therefore, this paper argues that in the resolution of conflict should be carried out from the subject level, object level and social governance level. In the first place, the majority of netizens should improve the media literacy of netizens and avoid the occurrence of undesirable speech, and the mainstream media,as the official media trusted by the public with reliable information sources, should strengthen the guidance of public opinion in cyberspace;in the next part, the government should focus on establishing a two-way dialogue between the government and the public, making sure public opinion information being disclosed in a timely manner, refuse to deal with events in a cold manner, and actively respond to the public’s questions about the key events. While making information public,it also conforms to the text transmission path of new media and avoids the rigid expressions,micro-blogging should fulfill the main responsibility of information content management, assume the responsibility as the "gatekeeper" of the platform, and establish a platform checking system, which determines the visibility of user-posted content from the source level, and comprehensively promote the implementation of users’ real name system so as to avoid the existence of personal virtuality in cyberspace. In the end,the government should pay attention to the collection of public opinion in real life, shorten the gap between urban and rural areas and solve people’s problems, and finally cut off the source of conflicts,so as to weaken and eliminate the phenomenon of group polarization in micro-blogging.
