Abstract/Summary:
Foster character and civic virtue as an important embodiment of the function of educating people through modernization,moral education is the creative inheritance and development of the "human-ethical symbiosis" educational tradition.Since the 18th Party Congress,General Secretary Xi Jinping has repeatedly emphasized the importance of moral education and proposed that all school work should be measured by the effectiveness of moral education.The ultimate implementation of moral education depends,on the one hand,on teachers’ self-establishment of morality,and their personal growth is the root of teacher morality;on the other hand,based on the professional characteristics of teachers,it relies on teachers to realize the guidance and shaping of students’ moral lives in their educational lives.Therefore,all teachers should strengthen the idea of moral education and enhance their moral competence,which is determined by the law of historical development of education,as well as the purpose of education and the mission of teachers.The moral ability of teachers refers to the moral philosophy,charisma and educational methods that all teachers must possess in order to guide students to form correct values,help them to build a sound personality,and thus promote their all-round development in educational life.From a functional point of view,it can be divided into cognitive and behavioral abilities,and teachers’ moral education ability is an organic combination of various abilities.The comprehensive improvement of teachers’ moral education ability is an important grasp to implement the fundamental task of establishing moral education,a fundamental guarantee to enhance the effectiveness of moral education in schools,and an inevitable requirement to promote teachers’ professional development.By means of questionnaires and interviews,386 teachers in 10 elementary school in urban areas of Y city were used as research subjects to conduct an in-depth investigation into the current situation and problems of the development of moral education ability of elementary school teachers.The survey results show that the current moral education ability of elementary school teachers is in the middle to upper level,but the development is unbalanced;Problems such as moral education awareness ability should be strengthened;moral education judgment ability needs to be improved;moral education guidance ability is relatively lacking;moral education integration ability could be improved;moral education evaluation ability is not enough attention.The main reasons for the above problems are that teachers’ awareness of "moral education" needs to be strengthened,the atmosphere of whole-person education needs to be strengthened,the lack of effective incentive and restraint mechanisms,and the mechanism for developing moral education ability is not perfect.To further enhance the moral education ability of elementary school teachers,we should strengthen teachers’ "moral education" awareness through multiple channels;construct effective incentive and restraint mechanisms in three dimensions;enhance the moral education ability cultivation mechanism at multiple levels;and cement the moral education ability guarantee mechanism in all aspects.
