Research On The Construction Of Children’s Social Support Network In Rural Single Parent Families

According to the data of The National Population Development Plan(2016-2030),the proportion of single parent families in China will gradually increase in the next 15 years.Government departments have also issued relevant documents,pointing out that we should pay close attention to the mental health development of children from single parent families in rural areas,increase assistance to single parent families in rural areas,and give full play to the professional role of social work service institutions and social workers.At present,most scholars focus on the psychological development,interpersonal communication and growth influencing factors of children in single parent families,and a few studies use the method of social work to intervene in children in single parent families.However,this part of practical research,on the one hand,pays less attention to the children of single parent families in rural areas,on the other hand,it is less related to their social support network,so that the imbalance of social support network of children of rural single parent families has not been alleviated.Therefore,from the perspective of social work professional practice,analyzing the current situation of rural single parent family children’s social support network,formulating project activity plan and carrying out specific activities have certain academic value and practical significance.Based on social network theory and social support theory,this paper selects five rural single parent family children of different types who can participate in the project activities in the whole process as the research object.Through the methods of interview and participatory observation,this paper understands the specific situation of the four social network subjects of family,neighbor,peer group and community to provide accompanying support,emotional support,material support and information support for rural single parent family children respectively,This paper analyzes the current situation and problems of children’s social support network in rural single parent families,and carries out demand assessment and social work practice intervention.The study found that the social support network of children from rural single parent families presents two characteristics: first,the strong relationship social support network can play an effective role;Second,the weak relationship social support network pays insufficient attention to it,but there is room and conditions for development.From the perspective of the scale and relationship composition of the social support network,the strong relationship social support network is becoming more and more tight and core,while the weak relationship social support network has not found a suitable way of support.The social support network of children from rural single parent families is changing,closed and lack of cooperation.Therefore,in order to improve the social support ability of the weak relationship social support network for children from rural single parent families,the research carried out four stages of project activities from the community level: public activity space construction,project publicity and volunteer recruitment,volunteer service and community public welfare service,and evaluated and summarized the project from two aspects of process and effect.Based on the research findings,this paper believes that through the project activities in three stages: scene creation,member search and relationship development,social work can help rural single parent children improve some weak relationship social support networks and provide stable and sustainable social support.At the same time,the way of expanding the social support network from outside to inside makes social workers replace the children of rural single parent families as the connection center of the social support network in the early stage of network construction,which can effectively make up for the relationship selection mode of rural single parent families,and realize the extension of weak relationship to strong relationship network.
