The Emperor’s New Clothes is one of the representative works of Danish fairy tale writer Andersen.Since its introduction into China,this fairy tale has been enthusiastically sought after by readers,and has been successfully selected into several versions of Chinese textbooks,such as Ministry Edition,People’s Education Edition,shandong education press,Jiangsu Education Edition,Beijing Normal University Edition,Hebei Education Edition and Hubei Education Edition.Among them,five sets of textbooks set it as "intensive reading text",which shows its weight.This paper starts from three aspets: the text interpretation of academic circles,the compilation of textbooks and the teaching cases of front-line teachers,trying to combine the theoretical research results of academic circles,the teaching suggestions of textbook editors and the practical experience of front-line teachers,so as to sort out and analyze the appropriate teaching contents of The Emperor’s New Clothes.First of all,the academic community has made fruitful achievements in the text interpretation of The Emperor’s New Clothes in the past few decades,mainly focusing on the study of text theme and artistic features.The author summarizes the important academic achievements from four aspects: text theme,stylistic features,plot structure and characters.Secondly,it analyzes the compilation of Emperor’s New Clothes in six sets of Chinese textbooks: Ministry Edition,People’s Education Edition,shandong education press,Jiangsu Education Edition,Beijing Normal University Edition and Hebei Education Edition,and sums up the important teaching direction of this lesson.The compilation of reading aid system and homework system in the six sets of textbooks has its own emphasis.Their common teaching directions include: grasping key words and phrases to analyze characters,focusing on key issues to reveal text themes,emotional inspiration education and imagination training,etc.Its different teaching focuses are mainly reflected in the following aspects: the version compiled by the Ministry focuses on text retelling and reading speed;the People’s Education Edition and shandong education press focus on dialectical analysis of characters;the Soviet Education Edition focuses on reading aloud and mastering pronouns;and the Beijing Normal University Edition focuses on tasting language by deleting and changing words and phrases.Thirdly,through the analysis of 45 teaching examples of front-line teachers,we found that most of the existing teaching contents focused on analyzing characters,combing and summarizing plots,enlightening education,tasting language features,exploring text themes,understanding fairy tales,reading aloud in various forms,continuing or performing fairy tales,etc.,but little attention was paid to the stylistic features of fairy tales,the training of imagination and the background introduction of the author’s works.Finally,this paper gives the following suggestions for the selection of the teaching content of The Emperor’s New Clothes: First,taste the characters’ language and experience the characters’ psychology;Second,dig deep into the connotation of fairy tales and realize the author’s implication;Third,reproduce the fairy tale situation and imagine boldly and reasonably.On this basis,some suggestions on the teaching content of fairy tale genre texts in junior middle school Chinese textbooks are also given: First,teaching should be based on the style,and the narrative features should be grasped;Second,read aloud in various forms,and read out fairy tales;Third,tap the implication of fairy tales and reflect on real life.
