| The General High School English Curriculum Standard(2017 edition revised in 2020)states: "In teaching,teachers should sort out learning methods and strategies suitable for different students by observing students’ classroom performance and dialogue with students." In a century of English education development,numerous English reading teaching methods in high school are derived from it and used in high school English reading teaching,among which the more commonly used methods are grammar translation method,task-based language teaching method,listening and speaking teaching method,communicative teaching method and so on.The choice of high school English reading teaching method is affected by quite a few factors.Especially with the release of the new high school English textbooks published by the Foreign Research Institute in 2019 and the announcement of Heilongjiang Province to join the new college entrance examination in 2021,a novel round of English teaching reform is also coming.The new curriculum standard(2017)puts forward:“Language ability refers to the five items of listening,speaking,reading,watching and writing.” Reading skills are not only one of the five basic skills,but their scores account for more than thirty percent.Therefore,the researches of high school English reading teaching methods has been favored by many experts and scholars.Nevertheless,there are few thesis on high school English reading teaching methods under the background of new high school English textbooks.Thus,this thesis aims at researching the current situation of high school English reading teaching methods in the context of new textbooks and research the factors for it.Finally,relevant teaching strategies are put forward.The research questions are as follows:1.Under the background of the new high school English textbooks published by the Foreign Research Institute,what is the current situation of high school English reading teaching methods?2.What are the factors that affect the current situation of high school English reading teaching methods?This research selected all English teachers in the first and second year of high school who used the new English textbooks in Mudanjiang No.1 Middle School,and used classroom observation,questionnaire and interviews to conduct research and analysis.This thesis is based on the six factors influencing teaching methods proposed by Lu Ziwen and Kang Shumin.It analyzes the six dimensions from teaching methods,teaching objectives,teaching content,student characteristics,teacher quality and teaching environment.The results show that in order to improve the teaching efficiency,most teachers still use the grammar-translation method.Among them,most teachers in the first year of high school are trying to use listening and speaking teaching methods,and teachers in the second year of high school chiefly use task-based language teaching methods.The factors for this phenomenon are affected by many factors,such as the recovery of English listening for the college entrance examination,the teacher’s own quality and the ability of students to accept,and the update of the content of the teaching textbooks.Based on the above analysis,this thesis puts forward some suggestions for high school English reading teaching: In the teaching of high school English reading,teachers should pay more attention to and cultivate students’ comprehensive capacity,such as listening,speaking,reading,watching and writing,pour attention into the organic combination of English reading teaching methods and new textbooks,and pay attention to multiple application of high school English reading teaching methods and the acceptance of students. |
