Based on the household data of China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study(CHARLS)in 2011,2013,2015 and 2018,using the exogenous impact of the retirement system on the retirement decision-making of urban residents, this paper uses the instrumental variable parameter estimation method and nonparametric estimation method under the Fuzzy regression design framework to examine the impact of retirement on the bargaining power of couples’ families, and discusses the reasons. In this paper, the intergenerational tr payment of husband and wife and the ratio of the probability of living with their parents and visiting frequency are used as the proxy variables of the family’s relative bargaining power. The results show that: retirement significantly reduces the bargaining power of urban men’s families, but has no effect on the bargaining power of urban women’s families: Men’s relative tr payments to their parents, the relative probability of living with their parents and the relative frequency of visiting their parents decrease after retirement, while women’s effects are not significant after retirement. The reason is that the time for men to take care of their parents is not increased after retirement, while the time for women to take care of their spouse’s parents is significantly increased after retirement, which is offset by the decrease of bargaining power caused by the decrease of inc and social status brought by retirement.
