With the rise of positive psychology,more and more scholars have turned their attention from "learning burnout" to "learning engagement" in the field of education.Learning engagement not only affects students’ academic performance,positively predicts students’ social adaptation and career development.At present,there are a series of learning problems in secondary vocational students.According to the developmental stage-environment fit theory,the matching of school environment and students’ psychological needs will promote students’ positive academic achievement behavior.It is the key factor to solve the learning problems of secondary vocational students to explore their learning engagement by combining the school climate and individual psychology of students.However,there is no complete agreement on which aspects of the school climate have a greater impact on learning engagement.In addition,there is a lack of in-depth research on the influence mechanism of school climate on learning engagement,and the interaction between environmental factors and multiple individual factors is rarely considered at the same time,especially for secondary vocational students.The purpose of this study is to investigate which aspects of school climate have a greater impact on secondary vocational students’ learning engagement,and further explore the internal mechanism of school climate on secondary vocational students’ learning engagement.In this study,a total of 743 secondary vocational students from Jinan and Linyi secondary vocational colleges were evaluated on their school climate perception,self-esteem,future orientation and learning engagement using questionnaires of Perceived School Climate Inventory-M,The SelfEsteem Scale,The Questionnaire for Teenagers ’Future Orientation and Utrecht Work Engagement Scale-student,SPSS 22.0 and its plug-in Process were used to conduct independent sample T test,correlation analysis,regression analysis,etc.,and finally the following research results were obtained:(1)School climate positively predicts learning engagement of secondary vocational students;In the school climate,student-teacher relationship and classmate relationship have a greater impact on secondary vocational students’ learning engagement.(2)The perceived school climate was positively correlated with self-esteem,future orientation and learning engagement.(3)Self-esteem plays a mediating role between school climate and learning engagement of secondary vocational students.(4)Future orientation plays a mediating role between school climate and learning engagement.(5)Self-esteem and future orientation play a chain mediating role between school climate and learning engagement.Based on the research findings,the following educational recommendations are made:(1)In the aspect of school climate construction: pay attention to school interpersonal relationship,strengthen teacher training,build harmonious teacher-student relationship;Create an atmosphere of mutual assistance and promote good peer effect.In addition,students should be given appropriate academic pressure,reasonable arrangement of learning pace;Perfect school management system,maintain good order and discipline;Carry out rich activities to meet the diversity of students’ development.(2)In improving the level of students’ self-esteem: we should gather educational forces,form educational synergy and maintain the level of mental health.(3)In terms of improving students’ future orientation,we should guide students to "prepare for a rainy day" and guide students to make future plans.Develop school-based curriculum and add future orientation into career psychology class. |
