With the popularization of higher education in China, the management of academic process has been gradually strengthened, and the phenomenon of dropping out of key universities has gradually aroused social concern.Key universities concentrate the best educational resources in China, are closely related to talent training and education quality, and maintain the selection function of elite and the scarcity of opportunities.Undergraduates who enter key universities are the winners of basic education, and are seen as the future elite.Dropping out not only means a waste of resources, but also means that students themselves will experience the transformation from "excellent" to "academic failure" and other stigmatized identities, which will lead to pressure of psychological adjustment. This study 14 key university undergraduate course of study as an example, through the way of narrative research analysis of their attribution, choice and process of longitudinal identity reconstruction. With the network ethnography as the supplement, the study explores the behavioral logic of each stage before, during and after the school dropout, and then takes the school dropout as the whole experience to analyze the meaning construction behind the phenomenon,in an effort to achieve a deep explanation of the individual school dropout experience. In recent years, the number of college dropouts in China has fluctuated and increased. This study finds that there are significant differences in the credit system, academic probation system and intercollegiate mobility policy by comparing and analyzing the relevant system texts of domestic and foreign case universities. These policies are the institutional root of the current dropout situation in China. This research mainly adopts the qualitative research method, through the excavation of 14 typical key university dropout cases, found that the dropout choice is the result of the interaction between external factors and individual choice, and is closely related to the institutional conditions of the university, academic and social integration, individual learning style, psychological state and other factors. In the process of behavior generation, the family plays three roles: the economic co-bearer,the authority expectant or the emotional dependant.Online anonymous platforms provide unique channels for self-disclosure,emotional comfort and information exchange for individuals at various stages before, during and after dropping out.In the diploma society, individuals and their families often make judgments based on multi-cost considerations and combined with the views of others in the society on the outcome of the exit.Re-examination and going abroad are the main choices after dropping out. After dropping out, family members and dropouts are engaged in psychological adjustment and meaning construction together, and provide shielding protection for dropouts. Finally,as for the overall dropout experience, some dropouts from key universities could not be successfully integrated and chose the life strategy of silence and avoidance. There are also individuals who gradually dissolve the stigmatized identity labels and realize positive self-integration.Dropping out of universities can be understood as a marginalized individual who is forced to abandon their current life due to the futility of their efforts under institutional constraints and mobility constraints. When a student enters the process of dropping out,he or she must take the initiative or be forced to explore a new way out.No matter whether the adjustment is successful or not,the student will enter a new stage of life. There are some prominent problems in the current academic warning system in China, such as too low strength,time-lag,heavy cost of results, and the lack of inter-school mobility system,so more humanized measures such as academic guidance and psychological counseling need to be developed. The education system to ensure quality still needs continuous innovation. In process management,it is also necessary to pay more attention to marginalized groups such as dropouts, and respect, understand and support individual differentiated outlet choices. |
