Abstract/Summary:
The stakeholders of sports event services include:athletes, audiences, media, staff(referees, timekeepers, volunteers, security personnel),etc.Athletes are the most important one of these stakeholders, and without them, there is no sports events to talk about. After the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games,China’s disabled sports have developed rapidly.Worldwide and national sports events for the disabled have been held in our country one after another. In this context, how to better serve the disabled athletes, make them play more outstanding in the competition, and then improve the service quality of disabled sports events should be the primary concern of the sports event organizers. In order to explore the current status of services for athletes in our country’s disabled sports events as well as existing deficiencies and problems, countermeasures and suggestions to improve the service quality of disabled sports events are put forward. This paper carries out the research with the title of "Research on Service Quality of Para-event from the View of Athlete Perception".In this paper, the disabled athletes’ perception of service quality is taken as the research object, based on the perception theory of service quality.Using the methods of literature, interview, questionnaire and mathematical statistics, this paper studies the service quality of sports events for the disabled from the perspective of athletes’perception.First, this study adjusted and adapted the service quality scale SERVQUAL through literature and interviews to form a questionnaire on the service quality of athletes with disabilities. Then distribute questionnaires to five Paralympic national teams. The survey found that:1.Except for the factor of "disability type",the individual differences of disabled athletes did not have a significant impact on the quality of service.2.There is a big gap between the expectations and actual perceptions of athletes with disabilities about the quality of services.3.The five dimensions of service quality have different impacts on the service quality of sports events for persons with disabilities. The impacts from high to low are:reliability, empathy, assurance, tangibility, and responsiveness.Secondly,in response to the deficiencies and problems in the service of sports events for persons with disabilities as revealed by the questionnaire survey, this article summarizes suggestions for improving the quality of services for sports events for persons with disabilities through expert interviews:1.Guide athletes to form reasonable service expectations and competition organization and management The participants correctly understand the expectations of athletes;2.Improve the service quality of sports events for persons with disabilities in terms of clarifying the needs of different types of disabled athletes, formulating competition service standards, improving the barrier-free conditions of competitions, and training service personnel and concepts.
