| Middle school years is the critical period to the individual development period, during this period the physiological maturity and psychological development lags behind the contradiction between can lead to a significant increase in the number of junior middle school students of externalizing problem behaviors and can cause many adverse effects to the junior middle school students, thus to clarify the role of the influence factors of externalizing problem behaviors in middle school students and its mechanism has important practical significance.Combining the ecological systems theory and the general strain theory that the point of view, the individual survival and mental adaptation depends on the interaction with the environment, the occurrence of life events represents the interaction between the individual and its environment imbalance, the imbalance will make the individual feelings of stress and negative emotion and individual in order to alleviate the pressure and mood, then induce some adaptive behavior.Empirical research also shows that life events not only increase the current externalized problem behaviors of adolescents, but also lead to more externalized problem behaviors across time. Therefore, the tracking method is adopted to explore the types of life events faced by middle school students, and the impact of life events on externalized problem behaviors one year later and its mechanism of action, which is conducive to a more scientific and rigorous causal association, and can provide more targeted guidance for the prevention and intervention of externalized problem behaviors of middle school students.Family is the largest one of the most far-reaching impact on children and adolescents micro systems, there are many teenagers in the family protection factor of externalizing problem behaviors with the development of positive youth perspective,Benson et al.(1990)proposed the developmental assets to promote the development of teenagers positive concept, among them, the family asset is that teenagers family for their support, and to regulate the support of their actions and specification can promote psychological and social development of the teenagers, cushion the effect of risk factors for youth development In addition, the conservation of resources hypothesis, have more family assets of junior middle school students may be offset by the parents support added pressure on resource consumption, thereby reducing the occurrence of externalizing problem behaviors, namely family assets may in adolescent life events and externalizing problem behaviors play a moderating role in the relationship between. In addition, the existing research has shown that male and female adolescents face types and levels of life events and react to life events, compared to girls, boys are faced with life events, are more likely to show a series of externalizing problem behaviors, boys and girls feel the parents communication differences between attention and control.Whether there is gender difference in the moderating effect of family assets on the behavioral relationship between life events and externalization problems is another issue concerned by this study. To sum up,this study investigated the protective effect of family assets on the relationship between life events and externalized problem behaviors of middle school students and the gender difference of this protective effect by using a twin-year follow-up study design with 1156 middle school students as subjects, and drew the following conclusions:(1)The most serious and common life events faced by middle school students at T1 were failed or unsatisfactory exams, misunderstanding or blame, and heavy learning burden.A differential test of various life events shows that the average grade and frequency of girls who fail or are unsatisfactory in exams are significantly higher than that of boys. The average grade and frequency of boys in falling in love or falling out of love, being unable to reunite for a long time away from their families, being fined, and scolded by their parents are significantly higher than girls.(2)There was no significant difference in the total grades of life events between boys and girls at T1;there was no significant difference in the family assets owned by boys and girls in middle school at T1;there was a significant gender difference in aggression and delinquency of middle school students at T2,with boys significantly higher than girls.(3)The total grade of T1 life events is significantly negatively correlated with T1 family assets, and significantly positively correlated with T2 aggression and delinquency.T1 family assets are significantly negatively correlated with T2 aggression and delinquency.T2 aggression are significantly positively correlated T2 delinquency.(4)After controlling SES,T1 life events could significantly positively predict T2 aggression and delinquency.(5)T1 family assets play a protective effect in the relationship between T1 life events and T2 aggression and delinquency, and family assets remiss the negative effects of life events on aggression and delinquency one year later.(6)There are some gender differences in the protection of family assets, which shows that the protection effect of family assets on boys is stronger than that of girls. |
