A Study On Several Issues Of "Color Revolution" Instigated By The United States From The Perspective Of Covert Action

The Color Revolution closely connected with covert operations is indispensable in the American political warfare.Derived from "Peaceful Evolution" and "Export of Democracy" of western countries as represented by the US,it is used by the US as an important means in pursuit of global hegemony.The paper focuses on the issues related to the US-initiated Color Revolutions,concerning the theories,organizations,and main methods from the perspective of covert operations.The author explores and analyses the fundamentals,features and tendencies of the US-initiated Color Revolutions which are referential for the studies in this field.Covert operations and Color Revolutions are interrelated but different from each other.Even though dissimilar in nature,they share the core logic and the ultimate purpose,overlapping in theories of deployment and the concepts of policies.From the perspective of covert operations,it is made clear that it is the Central Intelligence Agency,relevant governmental departments and non-governmental organizations who play a role of an essential conductor,a close partner and a full participant respectively in the scheme and instigation of Color Revolutions.The Color Revolutions initiated by the US are highly covert,featuring the consideration on both the parts and whole and the combination of multiple methods.However,defects are detectable,which include the weakness in the theories,safety hazards of the technologies,the exposure risk of the operations,and the dubiousness of the agents.The US Color Revolutions driven by covert operations have presented such tendencies as the increased use of the internet,the lower ages of targeted groups,the more attention to ordinary people,the elaborate control on procedures and the market-oriented administration.On such a basis,the conclusion can be drawn as follows:the defense against Color Revolutions depends on timely and accurate intelligence as a precondition,the force of intelligence as a foundation,effective counterintelligence operations as a pillar,and requires the reinforcement in coordination and cooperation to forge synergy in response to Color Revolutions.
