As an important indicator reflecting people’s livelihood, improving the happiness of billions of farmers in China is a major issue related to the national economy and people’s livelihood. In the process of urbanization,a large number of "village-to-residence" communities have emerged. As a transitional community for urban-rural development, the construction and development of "village-to-residence" communities involves reform issues such as collective asset management, community governance, and public service supply. In the transformation stage of "village-to-residence" communities, residents face many problems such as identity transformation, adaptation of production and lifestyle, integration into urban society, and sustainable development of livelihoods, which profoundly affect residents’ personal feelings and their sense of identity and belonging to the new community, directly related to residents’ happiness. This article mainly selected the residents of "village-to-residence" communities in Guangzhou,Wuhan, and Kunming as the research objects.Through the methods of questionnaire survey and field interview, the subjective happiness status of "village-to-residence" residents was investigated and understood.Based on the theories of Happiness Economics,Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, and Social Comparison Theory, using a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods, the influencing factors and effects of "village-to-residence" residents’ subjective happiness feelings were analyzed from five dimensions: personal characteristics, economic conditions, social integration, community governance, and public service supply based on 347 valid questionnaires and 28 interview data collected. The impact mechanism of "village-to-residence" residents’ subjective happiness feelings was also explored, and policy recommendations for effectively enhancing residents’ subjective happiness feelings were proposed. The conclusions of this paper are as follows: First,on the whole, more than half(52.16%)of the residents of "village change to residence" feel relatively happy,40.92%of the residents feel the degree of subjective happiness is average, and 6.92% of the residents feel relatively unhappy,so the subjective happiness of "village change to residence" residents still has a large room for improvement.Second, the economic income and social integration of village-changed residents, the governance level and public service supply level of the village-changed community all have significant positive effects on residents’ subjective well-being,that is,the higher the residents’ economic income, the better the social integration, the higher the community governance level and the public service supply level, the stronger the residents’ subjective well-being.Thirdly,according to the research results, suggestions are put forward in four aspects, namely, promoting the income increase of "village-to-residence" residents, promoting the urban social integration of "village-to-residence" residents, improving the level of community governance and improving the level of public service supply in "village-to-residence" communities,so as to effectively improve the subjective well-being of "village-to-residence" residents.
