Since the reform and opening up,with the rapid urbanization process in China,a large number of rural labor force has poured into urban employment, which has a serious impact on the stability of the rural system. The vast rural areas, especially those located in remote and inconvenient rural areas, are faced with the phenomena of "empty nest" of farmers’ families, the "empty shell" of collective economy, the "hollow" of village development and low efficiency of land use to varying degrees, which makes the rural system show great vulnerability in dealing with internal and external interference, and rural sustainable development faces severe challenges. How to improve the ability of rural system to deal with external environmental changes and challenges and promote sustainable development has become a major issue to realize rural revitalization.Especially for the rural areas in the beach area of the lower reaches of the Yellow River, the problems of farmers’ poverty, low agricultural economic benefits and backward rural social development caused by the impact of special geographical location, fragile natural environment and external environment have attracted the close attention of government departments and academic institutions. There is a strong demand to improve its toughness. In recent years, the adaptive cycle theory, social ecosystem theory and resilience thinking provide us with a new perspective to re-examine the sustainable development of rural system.Social ecosystem theory and resilience thought give us a new perspective to look at the sustainable development of rural system.Based on this, aiming at improving the resilience of the rural system in the beach area of the lower Yellow River, this study selects four villages and towns in the beach area of the Yellow River in Changyuan City,Henan Province as the research object to evaluate the resilience of their rural system and subsystems. The full text is carried out according to the research idea of "toughness evaluation disturbance factor identification toughness adaptation".Firstly, based on the connotation of social ecosystem theory,16 key index factors are selected from the three subsystems of economy, society and ecology to construct the toughness evaluation index system of rural system.Secondly,15 villages are selected as the empirical research object, and the entropy weight TOPSIS model is used to comprehensively evaluate the overall toughness level of the rural system in the Yellow River beach area; Finally,it analyzes the influencing factors of rural system development, that is to identify the system disturbance factors and response measures from two aspects: internal factors and external factors. The research shows that:(1)the rural toughness level of the Yellow River beach area in Changyuan city is evenly divided into 0.466,which is in the lower middle level, which represents that the rural development of the Yellow River beach area in Changyuan city does not have significant advantages.(2)In terms of dimensions, the measurement results of resilience level in the three dimensions are ecological resilience(M = 0.534)> social resilience(M = 0.441)> economic resilience(M = 0.426).Rural per capita cultivated land area, cultivated land quality level, annual per capita total income of farmers and income diversity index are the short board elements of the economic dimension of village development in the Yellow River beach area; The rural population loss rate, the ratio of permanent residents, the degree of aging and the degree of education are the short board elements of the social dimension of village development in the Yellow River beach area; The use intensity of pesticides and fertilizers is the short board element of the ecological dimension of village development in the Yellow River beach area.(3)In terms of the spatial distribution of villages and towns, the comprehensive toughness level, economic toughness and social toughness level of villages and towns in the Yellow River beach area of Changyuan city are at a disadvantage and have little difference, while the ecological toughness level has advantages and great difference. The order of comprehensive toughness level difference among villages and towns is:Zhaodi town(0.508)> Miaozhai town(0.477)> Wuqiu township(0.445)>Lugang township(0.433).Zhaodi town has a balanced development of all subsystems, ranking first in the evaluation of economic system and ecosystem, and is slightly weak in social aspects; The evaluation of each subsystem in Miaozhai town is quite different, with weak ecological and economic toughness and poor social toughness; The comprehensive and subsystem scores of Wuqiu township are not high;Lugang Township ranks last in the evaluation of economic and social resilience, and the level of comprehensive resilience needs to be improved.(4)In terms of the spatial distribution of each village, the comprehensive resilience and subsystem resilience of each village are uneven. The number of villages at the upper middle level of resilience is small, showing the characteristics of scattered distribution, and the number of villages at the lower middle level is large, showing the trend of aggregation.(5)The influencing factors of rural system development in the Yellow River beach area of Changyuan city mainly include natural resource endowment, natural disasters, urbanization, changes in national policies and systems and governance ideas.Among them, natural resource endowment and natural disasters have a significant impact on economic resilience;Urbanization has a significant impact on social resilience;Governance philosophy and policy system have a significant impact on ecological resilience.
