The study of Marx’s view of the origin of profit is helpful to present Marx’s scientific view of political economy and clarify the wrong idea advocated by bourgeois economists.Marx believed that there is an illusion that profit is generated from capital.Marx criticized the view of the origin of profit dominated by capital, analyzed the essence of profit and the relationship between profit and workers’ labor, and revealed that the real origin of profit is production labor.Firstly,Marx criticized the idea of the origin of profit dominated by capital.Marx did not agree with the view that profit originated from capital advocated by bourgeois economists, and he exposed the errors of the origin of profit dominated by capital on the basis of analyzing the capitalist relations of production.Marx pointed out that profit is not a nominal markup determined according to the amount of capital and the general rate of profit, and that there is an illusion that profit is generated from capital.Marx emphasized that money itself can not produce money, the false theory that capital produce interest is the creation of the concept of the god of things.Marx argued that land rent was not created by the natural element, the role of labor in production can not be ignored.Secondly,Marx clarified that profit is the embodiment of unpaid labor for workers. On the one hand,Marx pointed out that profits are the sum of various forms of capital income in terms of quantity, and on the other hand,he pointed out that profits are surplus value in terms of quality.Because surplus value is created by unpaid labor, and unpaid labor does exist due to the particularity of labor commodities, profits are actually the embodiment of unpaid labor.Marx emphasized that unpaid labor that generated profits is only the labor of workers, because the labor of capitalists has been fully compensated by supervisory wages. The bourgeois economists confused incomes of business owners with the labor remuneration of capitalists, which actually masked the role of workers’ surplus labor in profit production. Finally,Marx revealed that profit originated from productive labor.Profit is the embodiment of workers’ unpaid work, but not all unpaid work forms profit. In the process of analyzing productive labor and nonproductive labor,Marx showed that nonproductive labor does not create profits, but only plays an auxiliary role on the production and realization of profits. The merchant capital cannot produce profits directly, which only controls unproductive labor.Commercial profits are realized by dividing industrial profits.Marx pointed out that only productive labor can generate profit, the objectification of productive labor forms commodity value, and the surplus of commodity value is transformed into profit in terms of capital relations. Therefore, the origin of profit is productive labor.
