The proportion of rural women taking part in migrant work in China has been increasing year by year, according to data released by China’s National Bureau of Statistics.By 2020,the number of rural women participating in migrant work has exceeded 150 million, accounting for about 48% of the total number of migrant workers, and the number of rural men participating in migrant work has exceeded 180 million, accounting for about52% of the total number of migrant workers. For families, migrant work can bring an increase in income, improve family economic conditions, improve family living conditions,so as to improve the family’s social status and quality of life.Family members who go out for work may also gain more work experience and skills, enhance their professional ability, improve employment competitiveness, and thus improve the overall social status of the family. However, migrant work can also have a negative impact on family status.First, migrant workers may lead to family separation;Secondly, migrant work may lead to changes in the division of roles and responsibilities in the family, and may lead to changes in the status and roles of some family members. For example, once migrant workers go out for work, they may not be able to take care of the family and housework as at home, and these tasks may be taken by other family members, resulting in an increased burden on other family members.Since the rural revitalization strategy was put forward, the development of characteristic industries has provided opportunities for rural women to participate in socialized production, participate in characteristic industries, and create possibilities for women to get out of the family and participate in employment, thus improving their family status.Women are employed and generate income by working locally in a variety of ways. This form of employment can promote rural economic development and women’s self-actualization,while also taking care of their families. As a result, the traditional family division of labor mode of "men take the lead outside and women take the lead inside" has changed, and then the family power structure has changed, which has affected the status of women in the family to some extent.First, participation in characteristic industries has a strong positive correlation with female family status.Women who participate in characteristic industries have higher family status than those who do not because they can obtain certain social support and economic income.Through the actual survey of X Town in D City, the status of rural women’s family status and their participation in characteristic industries were described from the perspectives of autonomy of family life, personal affairs decision-making,housework division satisfaction and family status satisfaction, and the factors affecting family status were studied and analyzed. The following conclusions were drawn: Participation in characteristic industries, types of characteristic industries, scale of characteristic industries, duration of participation in characteristic industries, income obtained from participating in characteristic industries, different identities of participating industries, age, family size, education level and dowry have different degrees of correlation to female family status.Based on this,we should promote the development of rural characteristic industries and encourage rural women to participate in them,so as to enhance women’s family status and promote gender equality.
