A Study Of The Nagorno-karabakh Conflict

Nagorno-Karabakh conflict are a long-running territorial dispute about Nagorno-Karabakh attribution that happened between Armenia and Azerbaijan,according to the international community recognized Azerbaijan border,Nagorno-Karabakh has belonged to Azerbaijan,but those who now live in Nagorno-Karabakh region are Armenians,and they are in a substantially independent state.Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has long plagued both Armenia and Azerbaijan and affected security and stability in the South Caucasus.Nearly 100 years from the dissolution of Tsarist Russia to the era of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020,several disputes between Azerbaijan and Armenia erupted over the ownership of Nagorno-Karabakh and even started two wars.which deeply affected two countries internal affairs and caused a severe humanitarian disaster.The two countries insist on two opposing principles,one for national self-determination and another for territorial integrity,no compromise between them.Nationalistic consciousness stirs up misunderstandings and animosity between the two countries and increased the difficulty of reconciliation and proper resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh attribution issue.Meanwhile,the failure of international mediation mechanisms and the influence of International Politics factors have also hindered the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.During the Second Nagorno-Karabakh war and after the war,The interference of foreign powers like Turkey,Russia and Israel in the region has greatly deepened,Russian peacekeeping force can only temporarily maintain the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict at the level of indirect armed confrontation.The historical legacy,nationalist sentiments on both sides and the involvement of various foreign powers under the influence of international interests have created a synergy that makes the issue of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict difficult to resolve,and the prospects of achieving peace in the Nagorno-Karabakh region remain bleak.The purpose of this paper is to present the process of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,analyze its causes and future direction based on the research methods of the disciplines of history and international relations.
