With the popularization of higher education,the enrollment of postgraduates has nearly doubled in 10 years from 538,200 in 2010 to 1.106,600 in 2020.Under the background of the expansion of graduate enrollment scale,there are differences in the stimulation of demand for graduate school for different groups,but education investment is one of the effective ways to enhance personal value.With the introduction of the special master enrollment plan of "Retired college student soldiers",more and more former college student soldiers make the choice of graduate school based on their own reality.Under the guidance of self-dominance theory,this study focuses on the retired college soldiers who did not decide to attend graduate school at the beginning of returning to school,but finally made the choice of graduate school under the influence of complex factors.Relevant concepts were defined by literature analysis,and text data were collected and analyzed by in-depth interview.In order to clarify what is the generation mechanism of graduate school willingness of retired college soldiers who did not have the idea of graduate school at the beginning of returning to school and made the choice of graduate school influenced by many factors? Are there any obvious stage characteristics? What are the differences in emotional performance and behavioral performance at different stages? Are there stage differences and individual differences and what are the possible reasons for the differences? What are the factors that affect the generation of graduate school willingness of retired college soldiers? How to improve the post-graduate willingness of retired college soldiers under the premise of self-dominance?It is found that the generation mechanism of graduate school willingness of retired college students consists of five stages: the confused period after returning to school,the "normal" period after adaptation,the "tangled" period after information flow,the self-leading period of rational choice and the establishment period of firm belief in graduate school.The performance of the first two stages is consistent with the performance of the stage of compliance to external authority divided by the self-dominant theory.The performance in the "entangled period" is similar to the wandering at the crossroads under the self-dominated theory;The self-dominant period of rational choice conforms to the self-dominant theory.Finally,the firm belief building stage of graduate school is highly consistent with the internal belief building stage divided by the self-dominant theory.There are obvious stage characteristics,and there are stage differences and individual differences in emotional and behavioral performance at different stages.Parents,teachers,peer groups,military experience,scientific research related experience,educational policies,and self-career planning and choice are all factors that affect their intention to pursue graduate school.According to the conclusion of the study,the strategy of improving the willingness of former college soldiers to study for graduate school is put forward by integrating government departments,universities,parents and individuals.The government should continue to implement the "College Student Soldier Program" and expand the program enrollment according to actual needs,so that more retired college students can choose to pursue graduate school.Colleges and universities should implement the "tutorial system",strengthen their academic and academic guidance,cultivate their interest in scientific research,and should do a good job in the publicity of policy and model tasks,so as to form a good atmosphere for college entrance.Parents should do a good job of family education,respect and encourage individual choice,support individual reasonable decision;Retired college soldiers should enrich their learning and academic experience,strengthen the communication with "important others",clarify the direction of self-development in practice,move towards self-leadership,and generate the intention of graduate school.Finally,according to the research conclusion,it is proposed that the government should consider the reasonable placement policy for retired soldiers,and expand the enrollment quota of soldiers according to the actual situation of retired college students.Schools should do a good job in adjusting to the returning of college soldiers,reduce their burden of adjustment,and do a good job in policy publicity;Parents should respect and support the reasonable choices and decisions of individuals and help them improve their self-dominant ability.Retired college soldiers should deal with their partner relationship,adapt to the problems after returning to school,make career plans,strengthen communication with other important people such as peer groups,move towards self-leadership,and generate the intention of graduate school.
