Modernization represents a new height of human social progress and development since modern times.It is a realistic pursuit and development direction that no country or nation can avoid.In the long history of more than a century,China’s modernization has changed from passive adaptation to active response,and finally opened up the road of Chinese modernization,and realized the triple surmount of Marx’s idea of modernization,the Western modernization road and the Soviet Union’s socialist modernization road.It is an important theoretical and practical problem to fully and accurately understand the original contribution and world significance of this road.Chinese modernization has profound theoretical origin and arduous exploration.Through the analysis of Marx,Engels and Lenin’s thoughts on modernization,this paper expounds the ideological basis of the formation and development of the Chinese-style modernization road,and reviews the exploration of the Chinese-style modernization road by the leading collective of the Communist Party of China in the socialist revolution and construction period,the reform and opening up period and the new era.It explains the main process of the formation and development of the road of Chinese modernization.Chinese modernization has creatively developed Marx’s conception of modernization.The thesis focuses on the limitation of Marx’s modernization theory and the transcendence of Chinese modernization.Limited by the time background,Marx’s theory is revolutionary rather than construction theory.The Chinese Communists could not find the fundamental answers to a series of modernization problems in China from Marx’s works.They had to combine the basic principles of Marxism with China’s specific conditions,turn the ideal of "working for the welfare of mankind" into reality in their domestic governance strategy,and develop the concept of "world history" into "a community with a shared future for mankind" in their external development.Chinese modernization has creatively developed the Western modernization model.Based on the comparative vision between China and the West,the thesis deeply grasped the Chinese modernization road,namely the road of socialism.Its own huge institutional advantages enabled it to surpass the capitalist modernization road,break through the modern western enlightenment discourse system from the value choice and civilization form,and provide the thinking and action paradigm of sustainable development from the development mode and institutional arrangement.It corrects the western political judging standard with colored glasses from the judging standard.Chinese modernization creatively developed the Soviet modernization model.From the perspective of comparison between China and the Soviet Union,this paper reveals that the road of Chinese modernization,that is,the road of "Chinese characteristics",has its distinct characteristics compared with the modernization mode of the Soviet Union.It realizes the reform of civilization form and civilization view in the development concept,implements the steady progress of point and aspect dialectical unity in the process of promotion,and transforms the way of national construction in the system construction.The success of Chinese modernization provides a new model for other countries in the world to realize modernization.It adheres to the principle of "peaceful development",adheres to the diplomatic principle of "openness and inclusiveness",thus promoting the development of human civilization.It has created a socialist road with Chinese characteristics,which has made a significant contribution to the development of Marxist theory in the 21st century.
