The Taihang Anti-Japanese Base occupies a pivotal position in North China,and is an important channel for the Central China and Shandong bases to communicate with Yan’an.During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression,under the leadership of the Party,the military and civilians in the base area launched an arduous military struggle with the Japanese army,which made important contributions to the victory of the War of Resistance,fought heroically,and greatly strengthened the people’s confidence in the victory of the War of Resistance.The Communist Party of China has always attached great importance to the huge power of the militia in the war of resistance.In order to develop and preserve itself and destroy the enemy,it must establish its own base areas.If the army wants to have strength,it must have mass armed organizations and troops like the militia.Work together to fight against the enemy.Therefore,the 129 th Division of the Eighth Route Army and local party organizations in the Taihang base area focused on the development of the people’s armed struggle,mobilized the masses from top to bottom,and established grassroots organizations in counties,townships,and villages to attract the masses to join the militia.In various regions,the militias were mobilized in flexible and diverse ways,such as posting posters,distributing leaflets,performing literary and artistic programs,and giving preferential treatment to anti-Japanese family members,so that they could serve the people wholeheartedly.At the same time,the party also carried out the construction of the militia from the economic,military and political aspects,so that the number of militia has grown to more than 50,000,accounting for 5% of the local population,making it the largest anti-Japanese base.The militia made a huge contribution in the war of resistance against Japan,using various ingenious tactics to carry out guerrilla warfare in the military,and cooperated with the regular army to fight.Politically maintain public order,protect the hometown,carry out democratic construction,develop material production,and do a good job in the logistical support of militia organizations.Today,although we are in an era of peace,the militia still plays an important role.It is an important component of the building of the armed forces,an important foundation for winning the people’s war,and an important force for socialist construction.Therefore,we must further strengthen the construction of the militia and provide the most mass-based strategic support for the dream of building a strong country.
