Friedrich Engels,as one of the founders of Marxism and the "second violinist",together with Marx, created Marxist theory and made great contributions to the cause of proletarian liberation.Engels’ thought on women is an important part of the Marxist theoretical system. In the process of studying historical materialism and the laws of social development,he revealed the important role played by women in social history and indicated that the degree of comprehensive development of women is an important sign of the degree of civilized development of human society. The issue of women’s emancipation is an oft-talked-about topic in the process of human society. As an important force in social change, women’s emancipation is the highest goal of women’s emancipation, and women’s emancipation is the measure of human emancipation.Revisiting Engels’ view of women is of great significance in guiding China towards the second century goal and realizing the flourishing of women’s liberation in the new era. This paper explores the evolution and contemporary value of Engels’ view of women through several research methods, including documentary research, historical analysis, and logical induction. It is divided into four parts: the first part is the introduction, which is a general and normative description of the research content from the whole. The second part is about the emergence and development of Engels’ view of women, mainly from the socio-historical conditions and historical development trajectory of the emergence of Engels’ view of women, which shows that the emergence of Engels’ view of women is based on the materialistic historical view, the critical inheritance of relevant theories in European history, the generalization of social development, and the practical exploration of women’s living conditions. At the same time, according to the process of the evolution of Engels’ thought, the formation and perfection of Engels’ view of women are divided into four periods: initial eruption, initial exploration, continuous evolution, and finalization. The third part is the main content of the formation of Engels’ view of women.Taking the materialistic view of history as the basic position,Engels analyzes the whole process of the evolution of women’s social status from the history of family evolution, points out the social roles played by women in two kinds of production and the reasons for women’s subjugation, and concludes that the root way for women to seek emancipation is to eliminate private ownership. The fourth part explains the theoretical value of Engels’ view of women in the international context and its practical value for the development of women’s cause in China.
