Research On Deng Xiaoping’s Thought Of Rural Economic Reform

The convening of the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China marks that China has entered a new period of reform,opening up and socialist modernization.Deng Xiaoping,as the chief architect of China’s socialist reform,opening up and modernization,successfully led the Party and the people to open up the road of "Chinese-style modernization" with outstanding political wisdom and courage,which laid a solid foundation for China’s modernization.In this exploration process,Deng Xiaoping paid close attention to agricultural development,rural stability and farmers’ prosperity from the overall situation of the cause of the Party and the state,and carried out economic reform in rural areas,which not only profoundly changed the appearance of agricultural and rural farmers,but also strongly promoted the development and progress of the whole society.Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to study Deng Xiaoping’s thought of rural economic reform.In addition to the introduction,this paper includes three parts:The first part discusses the historical background and theoretical sources of Deng Xiaoping’s rural economic reform thought.Historical background: From the perspective of development stage,the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the CPC held in December 1978 marked that China entered a new period of socialist modernization;From the perspective of social atmosphere,ideological emancipation has created a relatively relaxed environment for reform;From the perspective of strategic deployment,the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China focused on agricultural development and played the clarion call for rural reform.Theoretical source: As a staunch Marxist,Deng Xiaoping’s thought is the inheritance and development of Marx,Engels,Lenin and Mao Zedong’s thoughts on developing rural economy.The second part discusses the main contents of Deng Xiaoping’s rural economic reform thought.From four aspects,Deng Xiaoping explained the starting point of rural economic reform,thought about a series of important measures taken in the process of rural economic reform,deeply grasped that rural economic reform must adhere to the socialist direction and develop collective economy,and discussed the good results achieved by rural economic reform in changing the appearance of farmers in agriculture and rural areas,laying the foundation for urban economic reform and promoting industrial development.The third part discusses the historical significance and contemporary enlightenment of Deng Xiaoping’s rural economic reform thought.The historical significance of this thought is reflected in: enriching and developing Marxist thought of developing rural economy,attaching importance to the significance of policies for rural economic development,helping the initial realization of anti-poverty goals,and strengthening the consciousness and self-confidence of "going your own way".It enlightens us that rural economic work should proceed from reality,rural economic development should respect farmers’ dominant position,rural economic reform should adhere to the direction of collective economy,and agricultural industry development should rely on scientific and technological progress.
