Research On Refugee Protection In Europe

The issue of refugee protection in Europe is never a new one.Since 2015,a large number of refugees have been created due to the deteriorating security environment of countries around Europe and the US ’interference in the internal affairs of other countries.A large number of refugees are attracted by Europe’s superior geographical location,convenient land and sea transportation,Europe’s developed economy and perfect welfare policies,so that one wave of refugees to apply for asylum into Europe,thus prompting the outbreak of refugee crisis in Europe.In 2015,a large number of refugees flooded into Europe,breaking out the most serious refugee crisis so far.The current European refugee protection system,which consists of the common European asylum system centered on the "Dublin Convention" and the common European border control system centered on the "Schengen Agreement",has shown a series of drawbacks in the actual operation process.The ultimate effectiveness of Europe’s refugee protection has been less than satisfactory.The root cause is the failure of the EU refugee protection system,the international refugee Convention and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.Specifically,in the European refugee protection system,the principle of "first country of entry" in the European refugee protection system leads to the unbalanced distribution of responsibilities among EU member states on the issue of refugee asylum,while the principle of "safe third country" ignores the attention to the rights of refugees."Schengen Agreement" also makes refugees in Europe in a wide range of flow,aggravating the refugee crisis.In addition,the serious differences within the EU,the difficulty of coordinating interests,the difficulty of integrating refugees into the society and the weak economic recovery in Europe further led to the failure of the European refugee protection system as European populists intensified their hatred towards refugees.Moreover,the narrow definition of "refugee" in the international refugee treaty and the ambiguous expression of refugee-related words are also not conducive to the solution of refugee protection in Europe.As the "international organization" with the best performance in refugee protection,the "United Nations Refugee Agency" is also vulnerable to political pressure and limited in solving refugee protection problems due to its lack of coercible power over other countries and limited funding by donor countries.Based on the above analysis,this paper tries to find a way to solve the dilemma of refugee protection in Europe:to improve the protection system of refugees in Europe;Improving international conventions on the protection of refugees;Strengthen the refugee protection capacity of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees(UNHCR),and gather all forces to participate in solving the difficult problems facing refugee protection in Europe.
