Marx’s critique of Stirner’s ideas on freedom is the cause and origin of Marx’s expression of his own idea of freedom in The German Ideology. In order to gain a deeper understanding and interpretation of Marx’s idea of freedom as elaborated in The German Ideology,we need an in-depth study of Stirner,an activist of the Young Hegelians, who was also an anarchist, egoist and historical nihilist, and the text of his work The Ego and Its Own.First, the essay decides to start from the context of the time, after examining the realities of the proletariat at that time.Due to the social context in which Stirner’s polemic against metaphysics and his critique of Feuerbach’s thought,Marx was inspired by Stirner’s views.Marx made an in-depth understanding of the idea of freedom in order to liberate the proletariat.Second, through an in-depth analysis and understanding of the texts The Ego and Its Own and The German Ideology, the essay discusses Stirner’s thinking about individual as "the ego" and "solitude" as the essence of freedom.Marx proposed the concept of the individual in society from the perspective of the subject of the realization of freedom in order to refute and transcend Stirner’s The Ego and Its Own.At the same time,Marx proposed the autonomous activity of the individual as a way to criticize and transcend Stirner’s idea of "solipsism",thus highlighting the connotation of the idea of freedom he wants to express.Third, the essay logically unfolds in three parts: political, social, and humane liberalism, according to the order of exposition in the chapter "The Free Man" of Stirner’s The Ego and Its Own,discussing Stirner’s personal insights on the nature of the concept of state, society, and man.Marx then developed his own unique view of freedom through his critique of Stirner’s views on these three aspects. Finally, the theoretical conclusion of Marx’s critique of Stirner’s ideas on freedom lies in the fact that, after explicitly presenting the subject of freedom and the nature of freedom in his rebuttal of Stirner’s,he finally used the "association of free men" to criticize the "egoist coalition" constructed by Stirner’s.He believed that only in the "association of free men" can man be fully developed, and sought human freedom and emancipation from the dimension of historical materialism. The essay takes Marx’s critique of Stirner’s idea on freedom as a clue and gives a more comprehensive and profound understanding of Stirner’s ideas of freedom through a detailed discussion of the background, theoretical premise, main content and theoretical destination of the critique. On this basis, through the interpretation of Marx’s ideas in the text of The German Ideology,Marx’s unique insights on the issue of freedom can be explored. It was in the process of critiquing Stirner’s ideas of freedom that Marx reflected on,understood and refined his theory of freedom, thus completing his renunciation, inheritance and development of the ideas of freedom.
