Research On The Development Of India Israel Relations Since Modi Took Office

South Asia and the Middle East play a very important role in the contemporary international relations system.India is an important representative country in South Asia,while Israel is an important representative country in the Middle East.India became independent in August 1947.After India’s independence,its relations with the Middle East countries are complex,tough,and divergent.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the relationship between India and Israel.This study focused on India as a dominant subject to explore the development of India-Israel relations since Prime Minister Modi came into power in India.This paper firstly compiled researches on the history of their relations,which had gone through a cooling,deteriorating,improving and developing period,before Modi came into power.Second,since Modi took office,India and Israel have carried out comprehensive cooperation and exchanges in politics,defense,economy,trade and culture,and bilateral relations have moved in a better direction.Thirdly,from the regional level,India has a relatively good geo-environment in South Asia,while Israel has a relatively not good geo-environment in the Middle East,which leads to its development dilemma.Since the conflict between Russia and Ukraine,their divergent strategies have mired Russia and Ukraine deep into conflict,which has created opportunities for India and Israel’s cooperation.Domestically speaking,India and Israel have distinctive political,economic,and security appeals.Personally speaking,their prime ministers joined forces to push forwards the bilateral relationship effectively.After clarifying the influencing factors of their relationship,this paper concludes that the development of their relationship,which still has broad space in the future,affects each other,the region,and China.Remarkedly,India should take off the tinted glasses for Israel,and Israel should stabilize its domestic situation and limit the power of religious nationalism on diplomatic policy.Both countries should balance their military and non-military ties for the long-term prosperity of their relationship and development.
