A Study On The Narrative Discourse Strategy Of "China Stories" Column In The Overseas Edition Of People’s Daily

“Telling Chinese stories well” is an important research direction of news narratology,and also an active research field in recent years.With the deepening of international communication,the academic circle has discussed the development trend and theme of Chinese story telling to some extent,but there are still some problems in the construction of discourse system with Chinese characteristics in external communication.The Overseas Edition of People’s Daily plays an important role as a media in “telling Chinese stories well”.In order to study how to improve the media narrative ability of the external communication of Chinese stories,the Chinese stories reported in the “China Stories” column of People’s Daily Overseas Edition in the past six years from 2017 to 2022 are selected as research samples,based on the theoretical basis of news narrate.Combined with literature study,content analysis and text analysis,narrative discourse strategy is analyzed.The main part of the article from “fact”,“image”,“emotion” and “truth” four aspects of narrative discourse strategy analysis.The results show that the factual discourse foreshadows and restores the story in the report based on the background,scene and data facts.Based on authoritative expression and popular expression,the construction of image discourse carries out symbolic narration and third party narration,and strengthens the narrative ability of national image self-narration and other narration.The presentation of emotional discourse takes the emotional stories of characters as the transmission carrier,reaches cognitive identification through emotional touch,and enhances the appeal of foreign discourse.In the construction of professional narrative and value framework,persuasive discourse strategy relies on the Chinese discourse system to strengthen reasoning and achieve narrative persuasion.The narrative discourse system with Chinese characteristics provides a new imagination space for “telling Chinese stories well”,breaks through the framework system of traditional narrative research,enricfies the narrative strategy of telling Chinese stories well through analysis and reporting,provides a variety of narrative paths for telling Chinese stories well,innovates the discourse system of China’s foreign countries,and improves the self-narrative ability of the communication of Chinese stories abroad.In this way,international audiences can understand the text presentation of Chinese stories and promote the new practice direction of Chinese stories communication.
