Abstract/Summary:
The strategy of regional coordinated development is of great significance for solving the main social contradictions in China in the new era and unblocking the domestic circulation.At present,China has become the country with the fastest overall economic development and the most complete industrial categories in the world,and the development of all regions has achieved a great leap.But at the same time,due to the early adoption of the development strategy of taking the lead in the development of the eastern coastal areas and driving the rich after the rich,the development of the central and western regions started late.This unbalanced development led to a large regional gap and was not conducive to the high-quality development of China’s economy.Based on this,this paper takes scientific and technological innovation as the starting point,empirically tests the impact of scientific and technological innovation on the regional coordinated development of the Yangtze River economic belt,and verifies the regulatory role of government intervention.Firstly,on the basis of combing the relevant literature,this paper constructs the index system from the three aspects of economy,life,resources and environment,and uses the entropy method to measure and analyze the regional coordinated development level and systematic and regional differences of 108 cities in the Yangtze River economic belt from2007 to 2018;Secondly,study the impact mechanism of scientific and technological innovation on the regional coordinated development of the Yangtze River economic belt,expand and analyze the regulatory role of government intervention,and make the corresponding theoretical analysis;Finally,this paper uses the double fixed effect to empirically analyze the impact of scientific and technological innovation on the regional coordinated development of the Yangtze River economic belt,and further analyze the regulatory role of scientific and technological innovation in the process of affecting the regional coordinated development of the Yangtze River economic belt under the government intervention.Taking the government intervention as the threshold variable,this paper investigates the different impact of scientific and technological innovation on the cities in the upper,middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River under the different degree of government intervention.The results show that:(1)the regional coordinated development index of the Yangtze River economic belt shows a trend of rising first and then declining.The regional coordinated development level of cities in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River economic belt is the highest,followed by cities in the middle reaches,and cities in the upper reaches are the lowest.(2)Scientific and technological innovation can effectively improve the level of regional coordinated development of the Yangtze River economic belt.(3)Government intervention plays a positive regulatory role in the process of scientific and technological innovation affecting the regional coordinated development of the Yangtze River economic belt,and there is a double threshold effect in the cities in the upper,middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.However,in regions with different development levels,the intensity of government intervention is different,and the impact of scientific and technological innovation on regional coordinated development is also different.(4)From the perspective of the heterogeneity of regional coordinated development system,scientific and technological innovation plays a greater role in promoting the regional resource and environment system than the regional economic system,while scientific and technological innovation has a certain inhibitory effect on the coordinated development of social system;Regional heterogeneity shows that the role of scientific and technological innovation in promoting the coordinated development of the upper,middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River Economic Belt decreases step by step,and in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River economic belt,the role of scientific and technological innovation in regional coordinated development is not significant.Therefore,in order to give better play to the driving role of scientific and technological innovation,we should correctly understand the differentiated role of government intervention in regions with different development levels.
