Study On The Coupling Coordination Relationship Between Urbanization And Food Security In China

Food security is an important problem of relationship between national economy and people’s livelihood,the development of urbanization should be based on the guarantee of food security,urbanization and food security are two interactive systems,food security is to ensure the material in the development of urbanization,urbanization is a double-edged sword for food security,the benign coordination is of great significance for national stability and social progress.Therefore,in the new period,we should attach great importance to coordinating the relationship between urbanization and food security,and establish a long-term mechanism for their coordinated development.First of all,by combing the relevant literature at home and abroad,this paper expounds the related concepts of urbanization and food security,as well as the theoretical basis of synergy theory and sustainable development theory.Secondly,it analyzes the current situation of urbanization and food security,and discusses the elements of their coupling coordination based on theory.Third,based on the coupling relationship between urbanization and food security,carry out empirical research,build the urbanization index system from the aspects of population,land,economy,consumption and ecological environment,build the food security index system from the aspects of production,consumption,circulation,international trade and ecological environment,and calculate the comprehensive level of China’s urbanization and food security from 1990 to 2019 by using the principal component analysis method,and the coupling coordination degree model is established to calculate the coupling coordination strength and divide the coordination stages.The empirical research results show that:(1)The comprehensive level of urbanization in China shows a stable upward trend,and the overall food security shows a trend of first decline,then fluctuation,rise and then decline.After 2003,the food security level is generally lower than the urbanization level,and the gap between the two comprehensive levels is gradually widening after 2016;(2)The coupling degree between urbanization and food security is basically above 0.9,indicating that they are interrelated and have a great degree of interaction;(3)The coupling coordination intensity of urbanization and food security has developed from serious imbalance to high-quality coordination.It has experienced the stages of imbalance decline,transition coordination,coordinated development and high coordination.The coupling coordination degree D value has increased from 0.178 to 0.969.However,after 2015,the coupling coordination degree of urbanization and food security has tended to be flat,with a slight downward trend in individual years,mainly due to the decline of the comprehensive level of food security;(4)From 1990 to 2002,the coupling coordination type of urbanization and food security was urbanization lag type.After 2003(except 2008),the coupling coordination type changed from urbanization lag type to food security lag type,which shows that while the level of urbanization and food security in China is constantly improving,the development level of urbanization gradually exceeds the level of food security.Therefore,at this stage,food security lags behind the development level of urbanization,and the gap between them is widening.To coordinate the development relationship between urbanization and food security,the key is to improve the comprehensive level of food security.At the same time,we should also promote high-quality and scientific urbanization construction,provide power for ensuring food security,and promote the sustainable and coordinated development of urbanization and food security.
