With the development of the ageing trend, the elderly group has become the main audience of the leisure tourism market. The country attaches importance to and actively responds to ageing by introducing policies related to the development of health industries and advocating health-oriented development of health tourism industry for the elderly.By exploring the behavioural intention of elderly people in recreation tourism and its influencing factors,it is of practical significance to further develop elderly recreation tourism products and do a good job in providing elderly recreation tourism services to promote the development of elderly recreation tourism industry.Based on the theory of planned behaviour and the theory of sustainable development, this paper uses the literature research method to sort out the background of elderly recreation tourism, analyse in depth the influence of behavioural attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioural control on the behavioural intention of elderly recreation tourism, put forward the research hypothesis and construct a research model on the influence of the behavioural intention of elderly recreation tourism. The questionnaire survey and empirical analysis are used to verify the behavioural intentions and influencing factors of elderly people’s recreation tourism, and suggestions are made to promote the development of elderly people’s recreation tourism. The findings of this paper are as follows:Firstly, through descriptive statistical analysis,it is concluded that the elderly travellers in Yibin City have obvious preference for recreation tourism.Secondly, through variance analysis,it is concluded that different demographic characteristics such as age, gender, occupation and education level can have an impact on the intention of elderly people to travel for recreation and leisure.Thirdly, through validation analysis,it was concluded that all three of the older people’s behavioural attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioural control can have a significant positive influence on behavioural intention;subjective norms can have a significant positive influence on behavioural attitudes and perceived behavioural control;fourthly, through mediation test analysis,it was concluded that older tourists’ behavioural attitudes and perceived behavioural control have a partially mediating role in the influence of subjective norms on behavioural intention Fourthly,a mediation test was conducted to find that the behavioural attitudes and perceived behavioural control of older tourists had a partially mediating role in the influence of subjective norms on behavioural intention.Based on the findings of the study, suggestions are made to promote the development of recreation tourism for the elderly from three aspects: government departments, tourism enterprises and elderly tourists.
