| During the past decade, the export of China achieved sustainable growth, the population structure, situation of family and marriage have undergone earth-shaking changes.According to the results of the seventh National census and CFPS survey data in 2010,2012,2014,2016 and 2018,China has seen a further decline in fertility,a smaller average family size,an increasing aging population, and an increase in womens relative income and employment rate.To some extent, the increase of womens relative income and employment rate reflects the improvement of womens social status and the improvement of gender discrimination in the job market, which is conducive to social stability.Social stability is the premise of national prosperity,so it is meaningful to study the relative income of Chinese women. There are many factors influencing the change of womens relative income, including the expansion of trade at the economic level, the improvement of education level, the gender ratio, the change of natural population growth rate and the opening of the three-child policy.Export expansion influence income, the author through extensive reading of literature, found that export expansion abroad study the gender pay gap document the results of each are not identical, social background and data based on home and abroad empirical conclusion may not apply in our country, and related research literature in China is very few,and not the export of female literature on the impact of relative income.Based on the above background, the author investigated the influence of export expansion on womens relative income by using two-way fixed effect regression model, and conducted a series of empirical studies including channel mechanism analysis and heterogeneity analysis. The empirical results show that China’s export expansion will lead to an increase in the proportion of the tertiary industry employees who are relatively friendly to female workers, resulting in an increase in womens relative income. For every 1% increase in per capita exports, womens relative income increases by 3.88%.In addition, through heterogeneity analysis, the author found that the relative income of women in areas with higher unemployment rate, higher GDP per capita and higher female sex ratio was more affected by export expansion.According to the results of empirical research, the author puts forward three measures.First,export-oriented firms should be encouraged to expand into poorer regions.Secondly, measures against gender discrimination in employment should be taken, for example, the gender ratio of employees should be included in the assessment index. Finally, local governments need to pay attention to the balance of local industrial structure. |
