In recent years,women’s social status has been constantly improving both at home and abroad.In politics and business,some excellent female leaders are known and win respect because of their leadership as good as that of men.At present,there are some outstanding female leaders in Party and government organizations in China making contributions to economic and social development.However,the number of these women is far lower than that of men,especially in Dongxiang autonomous county.In this county,a less-developed ethnic minority area,the number and proportion of female cadres and female leading cadres are far lower than the national average level.To give full play to the power of “she” and make contributions to the economic and social development of the county,it’s necessary to investigate and study what factors affect the leadership of female cadres in this area.This paper collects the shared elements of leadership in the public sector through sorting out relevant laws,regulations,policy documents and literature and the characteristic elements of leadership of female cadres in Dongxiang autonomous county through interviews.Then,these collected elements are summarized to form The Questionnaire on Leadership of Female Cadres in Dongxiang Autonomous County.After conducting a questionnaire survey on the Organization Department of the CPC Dongxiang Autonomous County Party Committee,we presumed the most important five aspects of the leadership of women cadres in Dongxiang and the components of female cadres’ leadership in this area were selected.By combing the existing research results and interview results on the factors influencing female leadership in the public sector,the influencing factors of female cadre leadership were extracted to form the influencing factor pool of female cadre leadership in Dongxiang.All influencing factors were classified according to the three dimensions of trait factor,organizational factor and social factor.Besides,the second round of interviews was conducted to interview some female leading cadres in Linxia Hui autonomous prefecture and Dongxiang autonomous county.After elements screening,the influencing factor model of female cadres’ leadership in Dongxiang autonomous county was constructed.The influencing factors were divided into three dimensions including trait factor,organizational factor and social factor.Among them,the trait dimension includes personality trait,ability trait and leadership style;the organizational dimension includes organizational interpersonal relationship and organizational development potential;and the social dimension includes social culture,social relations and social environment.Based on the existing research and interviews,relevant hypotheses were made.The Questionnaire on the Influencing Factors of Female Cadres’ Leadership in Dongxiang Autonomous County was distributed by random sampling in Dongxiang,and a total of 367 valid questionnaires were collected.The structural equation model,SPSS and AMOS were used for statistical analysis of the questionnaire results.The results show that the ability traits,personality traits,organizational interpersonal relationship,organizational development potential and social relations have a significant positive impact on the leadership of female cadres in Dongxiang autonomous county,while the social culture has a negative impact.The relationship-oriented leadership style and social environment have no significant impact on the leadership of female cadres in minority areas.Based on the local condition,we referred to leadership behavior theory and leadership contingency theory to analyze the causes and then put forward countermeasures and suggestions for the leadership improvement of female cadres in Dongxiang autonomous county,such as: changing the leadership style according to the working situation,improving self-confidence and perfect personality,paying more attention to training and practical exercise,and encouraging family support.Through the research in this paper,it is suggested that there are many factors influencing the leadership of female cadres in Dongxiang autonomous county,and female cadres’ promotion needs long-term and systematic efforts,including the self-improvement and support from family,organizations and society.
