| Over the past decade,women in the labor market have been widely involved in economic and social development,and their employment fields have been further expanded,and they have stepped into the center stage of China’s economic and social development together with men.The proportion of women in the workforce,employment structure,and non-agricultural employment have all improved.The potential of human resources has been further tapped.Women play an essential role in economic and social development,and the power of"half the sky" has been further demonstrated.With the release of the comprehensive Two-Child policy,women are the subject of childbirth and important human resources.The implementation of the TwoChild policy is of positive significance to the overall economic development of the society,the stable and coordinated development of the society and the alleviation of the aging trend of the population.However,the Two-Child Policy makes an impact on women’s life,hinders the female labor force participation rate,and the gender discrimination is still widespread female university graduate employment difficulties,women in the"glass ceiling" obstacles exist in the process of promotion and etc.,even in Jiangsu Province,one of the provinces with the highest level of comprehensive development,women still have an invisible barrier in the labor market.Based on the discrimination theory of economics and taking Jiangsu Province as an example,this paper explores the situation of employment discrimination of urban female in Jiangsu province,analysing the status,degree,impact and causes of gender discrimination in the labor market and finally summarizes and puts forward specific suggestions.Based on the relevant theories at home and abroad and the current research and the definition of discrimination,this paper makes an empirical analysis of some data from the statistical yearbook of Jiangsu Province in recent 15 years.In the empirical analysis,the correlation between industry segregation and gender discrimination is analyzed by calculating the wage tendency of the female labor force.Based on the production function model,this paper analyzes the economic effects of female occupational segregation and explores gender discrimination in employment.The results show that at present,urban women in Jiangsu province are not distributed in low-wage industries,and the phenomenon of occupational segregation is gradually easing and disappearing,and the discrimination problem of urban women in Jiangsu province is not severe in the labor market under the Comprehensive Two-Child policy.In contrast,Jiangsu province comprehensive strength is among the best in the country.Jiangsu’s economic development has stepped into the level of "upper and middle"developed countries,Jiangsu province in 2021 reached a total GDP of 11.64 trillion RMB,Jiangsu’s per capita GDP exceeded $20,000.It reflects that economic development is closely related to promoting equality of social status between men and women.Promoting equality between men and women in the labor market and eliminating gender discrimination can bring benefits to economic growth and social well-being,which is of certain value and significance to the sustainable economic development of Jiangsu Province,and provides reference for gender discrimination in employment of women in other regions in China to promote the healthy development of the market economy and social progress. |
