According to data released in the ANNUAL REPORT ON URBAN DEVELOPMENT OF CHINA No.14,China’s urbanization level has increased from 10.64 percent in 1949 to 63.89 percent in 2020.By the end of 2021,the urbanization rate of permanent residents had risen to 64.72 percent. The urban permanent resident population has far exceeded the rural permanent resident population. The driving force behind this population change is the land expropriation and demolition in rural areas.Through the land expropriation process, the right to use rural collective land was nationalized.Although this promoted the resource utilization of rural land and promoted the process of urbanization,a large number of farmers lost their land and were forced to move to the cities and towns. For land-lost peasants, their role changed from farmers to citizens when they entered the towns, and it was difficult for them to adapt to this change after losing their land. For farmers, land carries multiple security functions such as production, living and endowment.A good handling of relocation and resettlement problems can effectively reduce the contradictions in relocation and maintain social stability. How to fully protect the legitimate rights and interests of farmers in the process of house demolition and resettlement, ensure that the quality of life of land-lost farmers is not reduced, and fully guarantee their survival and living problems after relocation have become the focus of current research.Based on the new public service theory, hierarchy of needs theory, and cultural falling-away theory, this paper takes W Town of S City as an example to analyze and study the social adaptation of land-lost farmers in the demolition and resettlement of homestead. This paper combs the current resettlement situation of W Town. This paper reviews the current resettlement status of W Town.Through literature analysis, questionnaire survey, interview and other methods,it finds that land-lost farmers in W Town currently have the following social adaptation problems:first, lack of stable economic income;second,it is difficult to adapt to the new lifestyle;third, lack of scientific financial mentality;fourth, the process of role transition is slow.In view of the above problems,in order to fully protect the legitimate rights and interests of land-lost farmers and encourage them to adapt to the life of "new citizens" as soon as possible, this paper puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions from five aspects:education promotion, knowledge and skills, social communication, financial services and business environment. On the issue of homestead housing demolition, the current research direction is mostly related to material compensation, and less attention is paid to the spiritual aspects of land-lost farmers. For land-lost farmers, material compensation is not the only thing to be considered. How to reasonably arrange compensation and how to integrate into urban life is also what we need to pay attention to.The research of this paper combines the material and spiritual concerns of the land-lost peasants.Give a variety of compensation suggestions,so that W town housing demolition work more reasonable. Finally,it can improve the happiness and satisfaction of land-lost farmers, reduce the complaints and visits after land expropriation, and make them live and work in peace and contentment.
