Research purpose: China has gradually entered a deeply aging society. The results of the seventh national population census show that the population aged 60 and above has reached 264 million, accounting for 18.7% of the total population.Healthy elderly care has become a major problem that society is generally concerned about and urgently needs to solve. Therefore, based on the characteristics of the physical and mental health of elderly people, this article analyzes and compares the changes in body indicators such as height and body mass index(BMI),blood pressure, heart rate, flexibility, balance ability, and psychological indicators such as depression, anxiety, and happiness after 12 weeks of 24 style Tai Chi exercise,in order to demonstrate the impact of Tai Chi on the physical and mental health of elderly people and better practice the concept of healthy elderly care.Research method: 40 eligible elderly individuals were selected and randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 20 people in each group. The experimental group will practice 24 style Tai Chi for 12 weeks, with 3 class exercises per week scheduled for 60 minutes each. The control group maintained a normal lifestyle and did not engage in regular exercise. This study selected one or two indicators from the fifth National Physical Fitness Monitoring Bulletin issued by the General Administration of Sport of China for testing, including height, weight,BMI,blood pressure, heart rate, sitting forward flexion, and standing with closed eyes and one foot. The psychological health indicators were tested using the Depression,Anxiety, and Happiness Scale. Before and after the experiment, relevant indicators were tested on the elderly in the experimental group and the control group, and the results were analyzed.Research results:(1)Body indicators: There were no significant differences in height, weight, and BMI before and after the experiment. The experimental group showed a significant decrease in blood pressure and systolic blood pressure after 24 style Tai Chi exercise(P<0.05),while the control group showed no significant difference(P>0.05);There was no significant difference in heart rate between the experimental group and the control group before and after the experiment(P>0.05).The results of the sitting posture forward bending test showed that the experimental group had better results than before after 24 style Tai Chi intervention, with a significant difference(P<0.05),while the control group had no significant difference before and after the experiment(P>0.05);The results of the closed eye single foot test showed a significant difference(P<0.05)in the experimental group after 24 style Tai Chi intervention, while there was no significant difference(P>0.05)in the control group;(2)Psychological indicators: According to the depression scale score, the experimental group showed significant depression after the experiment(P<0.05),while the control group showed no significant difference(P>0.05);The anxiety scale scores showed that there was a significant difference in anxiety emotions between the experimental group after the experiment(P<0.05),while there was no significant difference in the control group(P>0.05);The score of the Happiness Scale showed that there was a significant difference in health concerns among the experimental group after the experiment(P<0.05),while there was no significant difference in the control group(P>0.05);The energy of the experimental group showed significant differences after the experiment(P<0.05),while there was no significant difference in the control group(P>0.05);There was a significant difference in the happy mood of the experimental group after the experiment(P<0.05),while there was no significant difference in the control group(P>0.05);There was a significant difference between relaxation and tension in the experimental group after the experiment(P<0.05),while there was no significant difference in the control group(P>0.05);Conclusion:(1)There was no significant difference in the height, weight,BMI,and heart rate of elderly people during the 24 style Tai Chi exercise.Due to the need for long-term practice in weight,BMI,and heart rate, there was no significant improvement in the12 week practice period.24 style Tai Chi exercises can lower the systolic blood pressure of the elderly, and long-term practice has the effect of lowering blood pressure in the elderly.(2)The practice of 24 style Tai Chi has a significant improvement effect on the balance ability and flexibility
