There is no special work on the subject of freedom in the whole spectrum of Marx’s thought.Marxist philosophy is a theoretical form and practical method for realizing human liberation, freedom and all-round development. The issue of freedom runs through Marx’s philosophical thought.Fully understanding the formation and development of Marx’s concept of freedom plays an important role in grasping the core of Marx’s philosophical thought. The formation of Marx’s concept of freedom has a far-reaching historical background and time context. This paper discusses Marx’s concept of freedom from four aspects: ideological origin, historical deduction, scientific connotation and humanistic connotation, and explores the development process of Marx’s concept of freedom through literature research and comparative research methods.Starting from the research purpose and significance of Marx’s concept of freedom, this paper summarizes the relevant research and different views of scholars at home and abroad on Marx’s concept of freedom, makes a comparative analysis of the existing research status, and has an in-depth understanding of the relevant works. From this, the basic views of the academic circle on Marx’s concept of freedom and the emphasis of the elaboration of Marx’s concept of freedom are also developed.Through the extension of the concept of freedom and the exploration of liberalism in the four stages of ancient Greece period, medieval theology period,French Enlightenment period and German classical philosophy,we can fully understand the development process of the idea of freedom before Marx,so as to explain the ideological origin of the formation of Marx’s idea of freedom. This paper combs Marx’s concept of freedom along the historical context and time context,so as to deeply understand Marx’s deep expression of freedom in different periods. It takes "Doctoral Thesis" as the germination of freedom view, and "Communist Manifesto" as the final sign of maturity of freedom view.Using five periods of the works to complete the formation of Marx’s view of freedom.Through the three aspects of Marx’s concept of freedom, the essential attribute, the possibility of reality and the highest ideal, this paper explains that Marx’s concept of freedom is different from the old philosophy’s interpretation of the concept of freedom. The revelation of the false freedom under the capitalist system, the combination of the practical view and the view of freedom, and the focus of the real society, thus constitute the core symbol of the difference between traditional liberalism. Finally,it focuses on the humanistic implication embodied in Marx’s conception of freedom. The core implication of Marx’s conception of freedom, which is different from other philosophers’ conception of freedom, lies in Marx’s attention to human itself.Marx’s logic and realization orientation for free thinking are all developed around the free and comprehensive development of human beings, and the value purview is that human beings should be truly liberated.Find the direction of human liberation by criticizing the form under capitalism. In the process of the formation and development of the concept of freedom,Marx always insisted on the exploration of human nature. In the process of thinking about the liberation and development of human beings,Marx’s selfless humanistic care spirit is fully displayed, and the value of human nature is restored.Marx’s practical theory has clarified the essence of Marx’s conception of freedom, and Marx’s spirit of humanistic concern has sublimated Marx’s conception of freedom, which at the same time constitute the fundamental symbol that Marx’s conception of freedom is different from any philosopher’s conception of freedom.
