China-Africa relations are one of the important cornerstones of China’s diplomacy,and it is a long-term strategic choice for China to consolidate and develop friendly cooperation with African countries.South Africa is one of the most economically developed and influential countries on the African,and China-South Africa relations are an important part of the development of China-Africa relations,and the development of good relations between China and South Africa is of great significance.Under the promotion of the "One Belt,One Road" initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation mechanism,China-Africa practical cooperation in various fields has continued to advance,and a large number of Chinese enterprises have gone out to Africa to invest and build factories.For Chinese enterprises going abroad,building a good corporate image in the region is not only important for the smooth development of their production and operation activities and the implementation of national foreign economic policies,but also for the building of a good national image.This article will focus on the framework of coverage of Chinese enterprises in mainstream South African newspapers through the framework analysis method.Firstly,a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the reports on Chinese enterprises in mainstream South African newspapers,represented by Business Daily,The Star and The Daily Sun,is conducted to summarize the characteristics of their reporting frames.Secondly,based on the above study,the image of Chinese enterprises presented by South African mainstream newspapers was constructed.The study found that the coverage of Chinese enterprises in South African mainstream newspapers is characterized by strong stereotypes,Western media preferences and single-issue settings,and constructs negative images such as lack of social responsibility,competitors of local enterprises and controlled "government tools".In general,there are shortcomings in the coverage of Chinese enterprises in mainstream South African newspapers,which have created a negative image of Chinese enterprises.Chinese enterprises,the media and the government should pay attention to creating a good image of Chinese enterprises through the South African media.The focus and aim of the article is to propose strategies to enhance the image of Chinese enterprises in South Africa based on the results of the research and analysis.Specifically,on the one hand,Chinese enterprises should use the South African media to actively voice their values and pay attention to the maintenance of relations with the South African media.On the other hand,the Chinese government and the media should strengthen their communication and cooperation with South Africa in the field of journalism,play the role of positive media propaganda and public opinion guidance,and build a good image of Chinese enterprises.
